When there are far far far more references to Jesus being the son of God, rather than actually God himself, in the Bible?

Where does anyone get off saying that you arent christian just because you dont believe in their interpretation of the Bible?

Since the Bible makes it quite clear that Jesus is the SON of God, can I call you a non Christian if you believe Jesus is God?

The Bible says that Jesus is the son of God far more times than it says he is God. I can interpret him saying he is God by meaning he is one with God just like a husband and wife are one. How in the world do you interpret away the direct scriptures stating he is the Son of God?

The only reason you claim he is God himself and not the son of God is your own interpretations. What right do you have to say if you dont believe in my interpretation then you arent a christian?

I see a lot of issues like this one in the Bible because I think it's been translated in a difficult way and it may be that a lot of it is true in some level but to take it literally is utter foolishness if you consider the translation processes and the time frames... Linguistically speaking it's a complex issue.

You are right. The concept of the trinity was developed by a large group of philosophers, scholars, and other learned men more then 300 years after the birth of Christ when the Roman emperor Constantine brought all these people together to sort of give a "baseline" (or what-not) for Christian doctrine.

That is why many people believe the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost to be the same person. Jesus did say that he was one with the father and this may seem very confusing because there are references to Jesus and the Father as separate beings as well (e.g. the baptism of Christ). What should be understood is that yes, they are one in every way EXCEPT sharing one body.

If you are struggling to explain that you believe Jesus is not the Father and the Son in one the worst thing you can do is to get angry and try to argue; it leads nowhere. If worst comes to worst, just agree to disagree.

Hope I answered your question.

That's not to mention that there was no trinity until the Nicene Creed. So for some 300 years, mainstream Christianity didn't believe in the trinity either. It wasn't until the public was starting to mix pagan and other polytheistic beliefs in with Christianity that the catholic church decided to declare only one God. Before that, there was no official doctrine stating that the three were one being.

Elder Holland's talk in the last conference discusses your question perfectly.

It doesn't, IMO. The bible clearly states that Jesus is the SON of God, and god is a different entity altogether. And basically, all you need to be Christian is acceptance that Jesus died for your sins - doesn't even say you have to believe in god, just that Jesus died to save your skin. Period.

Yes sir, you can almost certainly call me a non-Christian, unfortunately for you, it would not change the facts. So when all is said and done, if you do not believe that what the Bible clearly says (that Jesus is indeed God) then you are not a Christian. But on a brighter note, it's not too late.

God is perfect and humans are imperfect. We have the image of God but the choice of Adam and Eve distorted it, so that we have sinful nature. If Jesus was anything but fully God, he would be sinful. If he were sinful, his sacrifice would not atone for our us, and we'd all go to hell.

This is what I believe, and I think the Bible supports it. I respect your opinion and even though I dissagree, I think we both believe in the same God.

I thought is was pretty clear when Jesus was praying to His Father in the garden of Gethsemane. Who was He talking to? God and Jesus are two separate beings with the exact same purpose, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

The only people I know who call themselves Christians, but don't believe Jesus Christ is God are the Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah Witness' are not Christians, they are a cult. If you're reading the New World Testement, please throw it away and get a King James Version.

If we take Jesus for what He claims than He is God so either He is telling the truth or He is a deceiver.

John 10:33
The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
