Well i was happy with the PS2 i had for about 3 years, but the slot where you put the first player controller broke so now i can't play, but the PS2 is fine. I was thinking since Christmas is almost close should i beg my parents to buy me the PS3 now that i have no console to play with what so ever, or should i just buy another PS2, that i will be fine with?

You should get a nex gen system. But if you are not interested in going nex gen and happy just with ps2 games then get another PS2. PS2 has a lot of games and some are better than recent 360,PS3,Wii games. I would still try to get a PS3. Cool games and its fun to play online. Get a PS3 I would say.

Of course you should get the PS3. If you get the 60Gb or 80Gb PS3, it can be your PS1, PS2, and PS3 all in one. I don't know if you're parents will be willing to spend $500 on the higher priced PS3's, but just tell your parents that the 60GB or 80GB PS3 will be any of the Playstation consoles all in one.

If you're parents won't spend $500 for the more expensive PS3's, then try to get them to get you the 40GB PS3. Although the 40GB PS3 can't play PS1 and PS2 games, you can always buy another PS2 to play your PS2 games on.

Good luck

Get NTSC 60GB version - you'll be able to play your old PS2 games, PS1 games and, more importantly, next-gen PS3 games. You can play PS2 games on 80GB too, but not all of them - it has software emulation for an old games - only 80% can be played, while 60GB plays almost all of them. 40GB doesn't play PS2 games at all (only PS1's work). If you're from PAL region - 60GB is your only option, PAL 60GB can play only 80% of PS2 games.

If you want to update to a newer system, this would be a great time to do it. Ask for the system for Christmas (It's only 400 bucks at it's lowest). Plus, since it's backwards compatable, you'll be able to play all your PS2 favorites.

It depends on what you like. If you like graphics, the PS3 is definately worth it, but if you are in it just for entertainment, go with the cheaper one, the PS2.

in my personal oppinion, you should buy an 80 gig. 60 gigs are good to and you get to choose one of 6 games for free if you get from gamestop but go with 80 gig cause it has more space. (of course i know how to put up to 1000 gigs in a PS3 but i dont feel like going into all that tonight)
