What is it you are looking for? Do you know Islam? If you do, and know it well! then do what you feel is best for you.
You mother doesn't want you to convert! do you think if a Muslims mother will be happy for her child wanted to convert out of Islam!! No. they will not. that is the truth, and they know it. If you decided to convert to Islam you will be welcomed, and those who convert out cursed by the Muslims and punished for it.
If you want to convert first study and know Islam and if you still like it, then do it. and not one second before. In Judaism a person is not permitted to convert until they know the religion. In Islam, it doesn't matter. But when you go in. It is not as easy as going out if you change your mind. Be wise, and learn it first.
Ask the Muslims this. Would a Muslim hide there choice of converting out of Islam! and why! They tell you to rebel against your mother and convert without her knowledge, and at the same time tell their kids to obey their mother! do you see the problem in that!
If you are a Muslim who convert out it can be punishable by death or imprisonment. The Christian converting out nothing. that gives you a hint how fair Islam can be, or not.
Edit:
No you are not dumb far from it. You are search for what is best for you. Search. Learn it, and if you still like it. then, good luck. be wise, that some people like to paint you a beautifu picture. Be wise, and look through your own eyes, not theirs.
They will tell you you don't have to learn Arabic. Not true. If you decide to convert you have to proclaim your faith in Islam in Arabic. later, they tell you have to learn Arabic, because the Quran was written in Arabic.
They tell you can wear pants. Then they tell you to be a good Muslim you should wear the hijab!!
if you ask how do I know. I'll tell you been there. done that. but not anymore.
Edit:
for those who like to give thumbs down. Let me summerize for you.
Learn the religion. If you like it do it, but not before you know the religion. Go to it with open eyes.
What is wrong with that statement!

Greetings,
Islam is the act of willing submission to the commandments of Allah. Islam is something that comes from the bottom of your heart. If you know that there is no God worthy of worship besides Allah (the One God). And you know that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final messenger send to mankind by Allah. Then Islam has entered your heart. The other pillars that Muslims follow are Salat (Prayer), Zakat (poor tax), Saum (fasting Ramadhan), and Hajj (pilgrimage if you have the means once in your life). You can be a muslim no matter what is in your past... and better yet anything in your past will be fogiven as you move forward and strive for the sake of Allah. Allah knows best!

YES of course you can still convert even if you've been baptized. Anyone who wishes to, can become a Muslim. You don't have to be able to speak Arabic. There are many Muslims that don't know how to speak Arabic, myself included. However I can read the Quran in Arabic because I used to go to my local mosque for Quran classes. A Muslims must dress modestly, no flesh should be displayed such as legs. As long as you are covered with no body parts on display then you're ok.
Good luck. May God guide us all to the straight path InshaAllah.
Here is a site that can tells you exactly what you have to do to convert, It's incredibly simple! All you have to do is recite the Shahada (declaration of faith) then have a shower to purify yourself of previous sins and you're good to go!
SHAHADA:
"ASH-HADU ANLA ELAHA ILLA-ALLAH WA ASH-HADU ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASUL-ALLAH".
The English translation is:
"I bear witness that there is no deity (none truely to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah"

RESEARCH it and find out more about it before making a rash decision. look at the fake prophet and see he was a murder and a peodophile, and ask yourself ONE question would GOD really talk to a low life like that ??

Dear,
I warmly Welcome you to the religion of Islam.
The most beautiful religion. The completed religion by God Al-Mighty ALLAH Subhanahu Wata'ala. God had never said to any prophet that the religion by god to them been completed. It's only Islam. God said to prophet Muhammad that He, God have complete the religion of Islam.
If I may allow to say;
The Al-Qu'ran. It take 23 years to complete to Muhammad who does not not know how to read and write. Every verses 0f 6666 verses are memories by prophet Muhammad and later written on animal skin and leaves are compile
by the third Calif of Islam Saidina Othman bin Arfan. Everything in Bible are in the Al-Qu'ran. Islam WILL LEAD you to the right path in Eternity where Eternity are the real life after death. This earth is a transit to Eternity. Life in eternity is permanent for ever.

If you are past puberty, the age of distinction, of knowing what is right and what is wrong, you are well old enough to be a muslim whether you have been babtised or not. YOu need to declare your faith, which is called shahada, in front of two muslim witnesses and that is it,
The shahada is:"ASH-HADU ANLA ELAHA ILLA-ALLAH WA ASH-HADU ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASUL-ALLAH".
The English translation is:
"I bear witness that there is no deity (none truely to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah",
If you dont have two musim witnesses, do your best to find at least someone muslim who can witness for you.
May Allah guide you to the straight path,
First thing first: Learn to pray first. This is the MOST IMPORTANT. Then worry about other things when you learn more about islam. Prayer is the most important. Just dress modestly, you can do it with pants.

first of all, i just wanna say there are no words to describe the admiration i have for you. people are always ignorant towards islam (as you can see by some comments on here), but you have discovered it. :)
almost every convert i have ever met had to deal with family issues, and the best way to overcome that is to make friends with other converts (ive met age 17 and age 50 converts, they exist in all ages) so that youre not in this alone. It doesn't really matter if you were baptized..just pay your local mosque a visit, and they will help you in whatever support you need to do this.
youre in my prayers!! best of luck ^_^
haha..you can wear pants..theres nothing like a comfy pair of 7's :p

Assalamu A'laekum Sister,
Welcome to Islam,
Baptising has nothing to do with conversion to Islam, one can be blessed with the guidance of Allah swt. any time and in any state of mind.
By saying Shahada, You will feel a chemical change in your mind with plenty of multiple dimensions shall open to explore a new world of spiritual and mental satisfaction for this world and the next.
Congrats on getting a gift of wisdom from Allah swt.

In Islam ...your parent's might see this as rebellion. If you do choose this faith. Then you already know about all the prophets ours are the same from Adam and Eve/Hawwa all the way to Jesus and Muhammad. All the biblical stories about Moses and Jonas in the whale is almost all the same because we believe Allah SWT presented these through all of his prophets that you are already familiar with like King David/Dawood. The hard part of reverting I don't use the term CONVERT because Allah SWTor God created everything and when a non believer comes into the faith he or she was born a muslim but returned because Allah SWT led them back to the one true faith. Some reverts struggle with our belief about Jesus his arabic name is Esa and he was born from a virgin birth by his mother Maryam. Only we believe he was a holy prophet of Allah SWT and did not die on the cross or was cruxified nor in the bible even ever claimed he was god. He also will return in the end times. But Christians will never accept that Jesus Esa Peace Be unto Him is not God.They will never accept that Muhammad came after him our last prophet Peace Be Unto Him. even when Jesus proclaimed in the bible...there will come one after me. I can tell you as revert to Islam unless you are able to with your whole heart beleieve here is no other gd but Allah and Muhammad was his prophet and messenger with your whole heart and no doubts..This is the 1st most important step into Islam. People are going to bombard you with information as Muslims it is our duty if someone comes to seek Islam..but from experience take it slow and easy..there is so much to learn and know start with reading asking questions as much as you can. At your stge you should be learning the five pillars of Islam 1. Shadallah or the testimony of faith 2. Salah or prayer and wudu the washing of your body 3. Ramadan and why we fast that month. 4. Zakat and why we pay money if we can afford it to the needy. 5. The Hajj and why we make that hopefully once in a lifetime or more if you can Pilgramige
to Mecca....these are the Five Pillars of Islam..number one is the most important. Number one and two at your level you should be learning the rest will come later. Find a mosque in your area and request the Imam to put you in touch with some sisters willing to volunteer their time and go on Friday this is our Congregational prayer and follow them. Maybe meet with them and have them show you the ropes. It is easier that way..Salah can be complicated at first and I was so scared the first time I went to the Mosque but everyone is so nice and they will NEVER ridicule you for making a mistake this normal and natural in the begining. I started with a book called "Elementary Teachings Of Islam. Get the children's books they are easier to understand. I learned a lot from reading them. I even learned to pray with a book called "The Childrens Guide to Salah". When I was alone.
If you decide to become a Muslim there is a lot of personal sacrifice and reward. My family is finally coming around and don't expect yours to be either. If you take that step all I can say is welcome to a new world and a faith that will evolve you into a different human being. A world of peace and knowledge...and may I say to you Masha Allah/ gods highest praises to you and Inshallah you will get to the feel the undescribable feeling to be a believer! also me and many other sisters and brothers will happily answer your questions and set you up wih great links utilize them. I like Islamicity.com...and Congratulations on your path to Islam!
