Alll my life i have never doubted the possibility of a god or greater being, but i'm starting to feel a little confused about my faith.
I do read the bible and i know that god tells us not to idolise false prophets/gods so how can i be sure that what i'm reading and listening to in church is real.
No disrespect to god!!

The Bible contains great wisdom; however, there are some troubling contradictions and inconsistencies. Please do not let these stand in the way of your path to know God. Your birthright is that you are in possession of the Kingdom of God. To explore the beauty of this Kingdom you must look within yourself. From the moment that our souls were created, by the gift of God, the truth of all things has been within our souls waiting to be awakened. Once awakened, the Holy Spirit illuminates a path of expanded consciousness and the wisdom imparted by the Holy Spirit is innately known by the soul as truth. Each day from that moment on the Holy Spirit illuminates deeper and subtler truths which had previously escaped our understanding. Ultimately through prayer and meditation we understand that God's love is infinite and we seek nothing but reunion with our wonderful God. As Saint Teresa said, this reunion with God is like light that comes into one room from different windows. Since the true source of the light is the same the resulting light is indistinguishable.

The full path to reunion with God is found in John 14; 1 Corinthians 2:10-16; Saint and Doctor of the Church, Teresa of Avila's book "Interior Castles."; and finally Saint and Doctor of the Church Therese of Lisieux's book "The Story of a Soul."

Believing in the Bible *is* idolatry. It is having faith in the words of Man.

Even more worrisome is that they are men who lived several centuries ago. The Bible is a collection of folklore passed from generation to generation passing through several languages.

If it were the Word of God, wouldn't you expect it to remain the same despite all these inaccuracies?

Yet, it doesn't. That would mean that either God is deliberately hiding the truth, or God did not inspire the Bible. Which is more plausible? I'd say the latter.

So, take up a personal relationship with God first. Do not allow yourself to be swayed by mortal man. No Bible, priest, or church can ever take the place of God, no matter how hard they try.

I think that u need some time to have a deep thought and try to seek the answer. The best way is to consider and compare other religions as well, who knows that maybe I'll find peacefulness in other religion. I'm not saying that the bible is fake, but maybe it doesn't suit u anymore. The most important thing is to learn and discover other religions as well so that u can then know whether what u listen to in the church is real or not. Don't be afraid to learn... otherwise, I'll be in great distress.

It is very simple. Ask yourself three questions:

Was the earth created before the sun?
Do the accounts of Matthew and Luke agree?

The best of the best:
According to the faith, Jesus is the second person in the trinity, the father being the first and the holy ghost the third. Each of these three persons is god. Christ is his own father and his own son. The Holy ghost is neither father nor son but both. The son was begotten by the father, but existed before he was begotten - the same before as after. Jesus is just as old as the father, and the father is just as young as his son. The holy ghost proceeded from the father and son, but was equal to the father and son before he proceeded, before he ever existed, but his is of the same age of the other two. Of course that is church dogma and not in the bible per se, but that is interpretation.

Think about it, it takes about a minute and you understand.

Yes, if you take the time to read and understand it, not just lift a verse here and there. It is the word of God
and therefore true. I am now 87 years old, and His Word grows sweeter each day. When I accepted Jesus
as my Savior and Lord, it was the greatest thing I could ever do, and it's also the greatest thing we can do,
introduce someone to Jesus today.

Yes, by faith we will know the truth. God gave you free will so you can make up your own mind. Being confused is very normal and if you pray and trust in God all will be OK. Peace

the nonbelievers always flood these sorts of questions to delude the sincere answers (JMO)

The Bible says study to show yourself approved. So if you do continue to read and ask the HS to give you understanding about what you are reading, you will grow in wisdom to discern the false teachers. Ask God to give you spiritual eyes to see. I used to not be able to understand the bible much and I was one of those who the Bible says would be prone to being taken with 'every wind of doctrine'. Once God opens your eyes of understanding, you can see someone on tv or hear a sermon and know...thats not really what God said.

Read, study, ask for wisdom like that Solomon asked for...When you delight in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart.

Listen to what God tells you in your heart before you listen to word from a preacher in a church.

I think you should work out for yourself what to believe. Otherwise you are letting other people do your thinking for you. That never ends well.
