The military is not for everyone, and if you are serious, you should shop around to different recruiters to find one that will talk straight with you. It can be a very rewarding career, if you go that route, and you might even be able to get into a job that does not get you sent to the mid-east. If you can get into the Air Force, it's possible to stay state-side and never even see combat at all. If you plan on eventually going to college, the military can give you the discipline necessary to succeed. Some branches will even allow you to take classes and even earn a degree while in the service too.

My advice? Shop around, talk to different recruiters, and be sure this is what you really want. If so, GO FOR IT!

What do you want in life? What is it that would make you appreciate what you do at work? Once you get at least a small idea look into every branch of the service to find the best one that would suit your goal. It may be the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, or Coast Guard. Look at all of them because each has opportunities that will provide the best for education, experience, and self esteem.

It relies upon on you and what you elect to do. while you're specific you elect to be an officer, end college, and the two do ROTC, or circulate to Officer Candidate college. while you're specific which you quite elect to do 3 or 4 years energetic durt, then decide for it. remember, you would be 21 or 22 once you get out. while you're uncertain, do no longer do it. you're unlikely to get some great pastime or something once you have discharged from the army. some employers somewhat like hiring veterans, and a few employers somewhat do no longer elect to. maximum employers elect you to have the appropreate training for thr pastime they are offering, and could no longer hire you the two way till you have the abilities, training, and/or adventure. a solid thank you to get your ft moist without surely making a committment is to circulate to varsity for a 365 days or 2 and to take one or 2 years of ROTC, as long as you do no longer settle for a scholorchip and sign a freelance, you're under no criminal duty. you additionally can circulate to a reserve or national shield unit for one drill weekend and spot what they do. in simple terms communicate over with a reserve or national shield recruiter.

I applaud your decision to serve, but you may want to consider the other branches of the military. Talk to other recruiters and see which branch fits you. Regardless which one you decide to join we all get paid the same but get exposed to different "experiences". For a young person fresh out of high school I would recommend becoming an Air Force loadmaster, you get to fly with the aircraft, see a lot of the world staying in hotels versus tents, get flight pay and when you don't fly you're at home.

If you think College is tough please try the Army. Don't want to stay focused? Well, you will when a Drill Instructor is screaming at you two inches from your face. Believe me!! You will focus then. When he is two inches from your face you will say "Ohhh! I wish I could be in College". Think about going into the Army in a very careful manner. Be very Careful. Best to you.

The army isn't a bad idea if you don't have a plan for the future.

However, if you do enlist, plan on being in Iraq for a couple of years.

98% of all new recruits get sent there, regardless of what the recruiter will tell you.
