It is not a black and white issue.

A few issues to think about:

Sometimes "Organized Religion" is a blessing to Mankind. Sometimes they are not.

We cannot fairly group all "Organized Religion" in one group.

How do you define "Organized Religion"?

Remember as soon as you get more than one believer in the same place, religion needs organization.

In addition, do you blame all the bad things a few beleivers do in defiance of the "Organized Religion's" beleifs against the "Organized Religion"?

All "Organized Religions" are made up of imperfect human beings and sometimes a few of those human beings are going to do horrible and evil things.

With love in Christ.

I think it's a negative thing because squabbles between organised religious groups have been major causes of war and conflict, the oppression of women and other groups, it has been used to justify crimes against humanity... I could go on
I don't believe there is anything intrinsically wrong with the core belief systems of most of the worlds religions it's just how they are used and interpreted by those who follow them.

The main positives I can see are culturally e.g. inspiring art and architechure...

I have to say false. God is the blessing for all mankind.

Communism tried to do away with religion, but you just can't outlaw the big guy, His influence is ever present and does not waver. His truth cannot be stopped.

He's the one that blessed us with life. Some people just prefer to suffer their existence instead.

It depends on the religion...

Did you ever think about how the Greeks were ever so close to critical breakthroughs that were not realized again until the 19th and 20th centuries?

The Romans adopted all that technology, but come Christianity... and all of it was lost, forcibly erased and destroyed, its holders hunted and killed for blasphemy.

The Caliphate Muslims, however, adopted all the Greek culture, strove to perfect it as revelations of Allah through His Creation, but yet modern muslim states have vastly gone backwards compared to the scientifically advanced nations. With the collapse of the Caliphate, Islam retreated to fundamentalism and knowledge was horrifically and dangerously lost.

Funny that with no other religion on the planet has knowledge been considered a direct threat to a religion.

And people wonder why I despise Christianity and Islam but don't have much problem with other religions...

A blessing to those who understand and know how to live by example the word of God; a curse to those who prefer to proselytize and condemn in the name of God but against His teachings and His tolerance and love for all.
Organized religions are only as good as those who follow/interpret them and are kind and tolerant of others no matter what their faith.

True and False...

Organized religion, if followed properly, is a great blessing.

But then you get extremists who distort what their religion teaches, and take it to the (you guessed it) extreme and use it to hurt others.
