Dashboard symbols?
My son has a list of dashboard symbols to identify for his Driver's Ed class. We've managed to identify most of them (I don't drive, so I'm not much help), but there are a few we are stuck on.
Would anyone know of a website that lists some of the more obscure symbols and their meanings? Thanks guys, for all the help. It's appreciated.
I've posted this in automotive and homework help, but I'm willing to bet the best advice comes from here.

Oh, Dude, you're probably right. But I don't drive, hence, no car.

I thnik there is no universal catalog of dashboard symbols; they vary by manufacturer. I'd go to my owner's manual, any make and read what they have. Here are some I've encountered but the symbol will vary by manufacturere but ... don't forget, the manufacturers want to make them easy to understand so if he guesses it will likely do well for him too:
Low gas (picture of a gas nozzle)
engine trouble (picture of an engine)
Problem with braking system (ABS or Brakes in letters)
Lightbulb out (picture of a lightbulb)
Hightemperature (thermometer)
Parking brake on (exclamation mark in a diamond shape)
Door open (picture of car outline with door open)
High beam indiactor (picture of headlight with beams)
turns (left and right arrows, they blink)
Four ways on (both arrows on, blinking)
low wiper fluid (window with wiper on it)
defrost on (window shape with wavy horizontal lines)
Gear indication (sometiems, R, D, !, 2, etc)

When you say, "dashboard symbols", I assume you're referring to the little icons that light up on your dishboard like "check engine" and "low fuel"?
Your car's owners manual should have a complete list of the ones on your car. They vary by brand and model. Mine, for example, as an icon for an oil change, and another icon for the 50,000 mile maintenance thing.
EDIT: Well, the car's owners manual. They probably left it in the glovebox.

Since this question is in R&S, I'd have to say that the plastic Jesus on your dashboard means you're Christian.
If Jesus is facing you, you are the kind of Christian who wants to go to heaven. If he's facing traffic, you are the kind of Christian who wants God's help here on Earth.

Grab a cop (not literally) or an automotive mechanic to point things out for you both, you'd be amazed what you can learn! If you were here, we'd take us a look-see at what you're referring to.

A symbol like Aladdin's lamp "on" means low oil.
A round red light "on" means the generator isn't working (VW vintage)
A blue light "on" means you have your bright lights on, as opposed to just regular headlights on.
A red triangle light "on" means you have your hazard lights on (red tail-lights flashing)
