Arrogance is a fault - a flaw.
Smugness, self-righteousness, arrogance, pompousness - they're faults.
They're faults many lifelong Christians are guilty of - along with others from many branches of society.
Father decides what is sin and what isn't. We have only a few direct examples and a few clues as to what is and/or isn't a sin.
Like, judging others or setting yourself above another.
In vague and general terms, I suppose you could apply the passage you mention - but I think, in your reading that you will find better passages.
But bolstering your arguments approaches being smug. Better not to make them arguments at all - but lessons.
It is your light - not your intelligence - that can shine thru the dark.

Yes, arrogance is a sin.
The story in Ezekiel 31 depicts the expulsion of satan and his followers from heaven.
God is saying how well taken care of and beautiful are the trees by a river as was Lucifer and the angels that followed him when they were still with God.
God kicked them out of heaven for their arrogance in thinking they were equal to or better than God, Himself.

In order to understand vs 14 you need to go back and look at vs 10 and read down to 14, The subject here is "Pharaoh king of Egypt" (vs 2) who has exaluted himself to be Great and mighty like the giant Ceader trees that God had created. Pharaoh is proud and arrogant and has not acknoleged God as the one who is made him great so God has decided to humble him. God is the only one who deserves Glory and honnor and therefore because Pharaoh did not give God his glory God has judged him. "for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit." Pharaoh will be delivered unto death and will be no more and will go down to the pit. Meaning he will be judged for his sin and will be no more.

Uhh...
It's saying that unless you're a tree growing near the water you will not grow to your full potential.
Meaning if you're not a good Christian(or in Ezekiel's time a Jew) living, eating, breathing, drinking, etc. the gospel and the word of God, then you will not grow to your spiritual potential.

25 Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
