Brittany (Bretagne in French), the westernmost region of France. French regions are divided into "départements" and the westernmost "département" is called Finistère (which means land's end). The city that is the closest is Brest.

Mike1942 is right too, Ouessant is a small inhabited island off the coast of Brittany, part of the Finistère département..

According to Google earth the island west of Brest Ile d' Ouessant is 2880 miles from Maine
