The growing commercialism of Christianity - is this why the government is so opposed to atheists; because atheism can’t be used as easily to market consumables?

This was inspired by Mich K’s answer here…thanks Mich!

Well a good marketing strategy never hurts. That and good PR goes a long way to fill in the gap whenever we stopped showing God's character in our daily lives.

What's going on is that you generalize about all of us based on the views of the Christians that you hate the most.
I would never dare imply that all atheists are like you. That would be an insult.

Has it ever occurred to you that we are individuals? Not all of us are alike. There were less than a doxen answers to your question. Yet you judge ALL Christians based upon ONE answer.
How illogical!

If you'd give any of us half a chance, you would find that we're NICE.

I can sit back and rest in knowing I believe what I do, not because of commercialism, not because of other Christians, and not because of churches (et cetera, et cetera, et cetera) but know I believe what I believe because I've read the bible. Which is more than I can say for a lot of people, who hate Christianity as a RELIGION.

It would be hard to hate Christianity as it's meant to be perceived. It's too much good to hate. It's not Christianity you hate. How can you hate something if you don't even know what it is?

You hate the representatives of Christianity. You hate what people MAKE it out to be. I don't blame you. I hate it too. But don't hate Christianity because of what "Christians" or people make it out to be. If you're going to reject it, reject it based on your own principles, AFTER reading the bible. Don't judge Christianity based on what you see and hear every day. Too many people make the mistake of doing that. I did too. I sure turned out to be wrong. I've went through many religions in my life before giving up religion and seeking RELATIONSHIP with God.

Let me tell you something. The people out there using it as a marketing tool, the people using it to slander others, the people using it to do exactly what you hate, are not Christians. It's a label they'd like to use. The bible speaks against it too. But, since most people don't read the bible, it's hard for people to see that the people claiming to be Christian are going against its teachings. You could literally take the bible, read it, and use its word to show these people that what they're doing is wrong and goes against what their faith teaches. You can't honestly hate Christianity itself for that. I can understand being irritated by how people use it, but to hate IT in general isn't fair.

I don't have to look at people and judge God and Christianity based on them and what THEY say. Since when have people ever held complete truth about anything? I know what Christianity is and what it isn't. I know what God is and what he isn't. Too bad you rarely hear the truth being spoken, even by many Christians.

The reason some Christians use those foods is because that is what's common in our society; just like bread and wine was in Jesus' day.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
