Noah helped all those people by preaching to them as he was building the ark.
Had they repented, God would have saved them but they choose not to repent.
Until the rains came and it was too late.
There are many on Yahoo who will be in this situation on judgement day.
And that's why I'm here, to tell them the good news.

PS: I'm not better than anyone else, I am just a beggar who has learned where the free soup kitchen is located. And I get into the free soup kitchen since I've met the only son of the owner of the free soup kitchen.

Noah was a righteous man [in his generation]. The supposition of mercy i.e reacting to 'screams' by which the question alludes has by its author an incorrect implication as an act of forbearance (something which could have been done but was not done) by Noah. It was a commandment by G-d to Noah who was a righteous man to carry-out G-d's command. If there were alternatively an accusation made, it would say that Noah did not pray for the World's populace that G-d spare them. It is extremely difficult if not impossible to comprehend with our sensibilities in the 21st century these Spiritual Giants such as Noah to whom G-d communicated. At the very best the only possible way we can learn is to take those lessons from Moses who brought G-d's Law to mankind.

Hi Crimmson...a lovely question and a star for you..
Yes Noah submitted to the will of God and his people followed suit, save those who just laughed at him and decided to follow their free will. It was these "free will followers", who begged mercy and a place on the Ark, but then it was too late..as it will be for those in present times, who laugh and mock at those, who believe in One God, the people of faith.
This free will has made many, in present times, indifferent and repulsive to the basic humanity and submission to Gods Word and Will. And they are doing it of their own free will, and it will be this free will that will make then repent in the end, but then it will be too late.
Pastor..
Thanks.. I agree with you..

I think Noah warned them and preached to them for about 120 years before it started raining. In return they sought to kill him. Is it any wonder God would shut the door of the ark and save Noah and his family, but not the others?

But, you see, Noah could have refused to do God's Will. Go thru the Bible and count the people who did God's Will and those who did not. Here is a start:
NOT: Adam and Eve
DID: Moses, Mary

How could Noah have heard them pounding and screaming, with all those gigantic dinos on the boat moaning for some greens to eat?

Yes, he was following God's commands.
Why?
Because he long ago decided to voluntarily subject his free will to God's.
A personal decision.
Apparently it turned out to be a good decision ....that is, if you love life.
