Change her diet, buy her food for overwieght dogs. Give her time to loose a couple of pounds and maybe then she'll want to be more active.

It seems that if she has gained 15 lbs, she must be out of shape. Just gradually ease her into the new exercise program. Not fair to stress her heart and joints too much. Just keep extending the walk by 5-10 minutes each day. Also if this is fairly odd behavior for her, maybe a vet trip is due. They can check if she has any underlying diseases or heart issues that may affect her stamina.

If she's overweight, it's no fun for her to run. (Just like people). She also may be having some problem with pain...depending on her age...maybe some arthritis pain? My 12 yr old dog can't stand a walk around the block any more due to arthritis.

Your dog might not be healthy anymore--dogs usually like to run, if they can.
