Any Christian/Catholic store will have books about the lives of the saints, but the Internet works just as well. Just make sure you don't pick a non-Catholic on accident lol.
My favorite is St. Catherine of Siena (if it is possible to actually have a favorite lol...I guess not!). Even if you don't pick her, I can HIGHLY recommend her biography, "The Life of St. Catherine of Siena," written by Blessed Raymond of Capua. I think all Catholics should read it - it is absolutely fascinating and wonderful!
--edit-- Oh yeah, and the idea to keep in mind is that the saint you choose is one whose life appeals to you and whom you wish to imitate, along with one you would like praying for you, because you can be sure they'll pray for you every time you ask!

i was confirmed last year and i had to write the same paper! choosing a saint name was a really difficult decision, because there are so many of them! but you can google "saint names" or "patron saints" and there are websites with thousands of names. a few popular ones are anne, julia, lucille/lucy, mary, catherine. i chose cecilia for my saint name.
as for the paper, simply answer these key questions: who was the saint, where/when was she born, what is she the patron saint of, what was important about her life that you want to exemplify through your own life, was she a martyr? and most importantly, how can you look up to her for guidance in your own life when you become a mature member of the catholic church through confirmation?
confirmation is a wonderful, wonderful sacrement and i promise you all this writing and all the classes will be worth it.

Try the links below and find a saint that represents something important to you like what they stood for or what they did in their lives for God and man. I chose Therese of Lisieux (The Little Flower) for my confirmation saint for those same reasons. I just did a websearch on 'saints and confirmation' and got a lot of good sites. Good luck.

I have to do the same thing! Ummm...I just chose a Saint and we had to write about his/her life history and what she did to become a Saint and how he/she devoted their self to the church. I hope this helped a little!

What does that have to do with being a new person in Christ? How does that help you be a new creation in Christ? What exactly are you confirming? The Bible says that in order to be a Christian you have to be crucified with Christ. Old things are passed away and all things are new. What does writting a paper about a Saint have to do with that?

My saint was Hildegard von Bingen.
She was a nun who had migraines that she thought were visions from god; they inspired her to write religious music and she was the first woman to be recognized within the music world.
Pretty BA, huh?
