I misread that at the beginning. After scanning through it I thought "this doesn't sound like Christian behavior to me..." but then I reread it.

If I were at a level 2 I would give H.I. a thumbs up. A bit wordy, but good. Xylo, choosing to not be a Xian just because someone else is not, is not logical. The decision should be reached through one's own research and logical reasoning. While good works on earth may make one a good person, the Xians believe that one must be "born again in the Holy Spirit." Believing in a higher power is different from the idea that someone died for the sins of the world in a time when the world did not have access to him.

According to the Quran -- some of the christians are on the right path. Most of them have been lost. i.e. They have lost the message that all the prophets have given before.
If we go to the shop and ask for a Bible , the shopkeeper asks which version do you want. Did God reveal all these versions.
NO.
So these versions came into existence because human words got mixed with Gods words.
This is the reason that God has revealed the last book "The Quran". Read it once in your life time . And assess it if it is from the same lord who revealed the books of Moses, David,& Jesus peace be on them.
You have only one life & soon will be standing before the LORD.
Â
Bible Matthew 7:23
21“Not everyone who keeps saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will get into the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who keeps doing the will of my Father in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name, drove out demons in your name, and performed many miracles in your name, didn't we?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you evildoers!’”
Do you know why the above people will be called evil does on the day of judgement. Because they have not obeyed will of the Father. The will of the father is given in the QURAN. So read it , judge it, everybody has so much commonsense so as to judge if it is from the same God or Not.
If any noble women known to walks up to you and tells you that she got pregnant without any man touching her. Would you believe her?
NO.
Then why did the people of Mother Mary (pbh) time believe her. I have asked so many christians but they could not give any reply.
The answer is written in the Quran, in chapter 19 Maryam (The chapter is named after Maryam pbh) . Jesus christ performed a miracle at that time, which nearly all of the christians are unaware of.
So read the Quran, Dont reject it as the Jews rejected Jesus Christ. pbh.

Being an atheist, your grandfather or your mother did not believe in God. It goes without saying that neither of them believes that there is such a thing as heaven or hell as well. To believe otherwise is to accept that there is God because heaven is the abode place of God. I think it is no longer a matter of contention whether Christians are right or wrong from your point of view because your parents' belief already presupposes that there is no such thing as heaven. Christians believe that there is still life beyond the grave. An atheist believes that death is the end of life.

Your mother sounds like a wonderful person, and I'm sorry for your loss. (It may have been a while ago, but I know it never stops feeling like a loss.)
If I may, I'd like to point out that, from your story, you're basing your decision on a single data point. One intolerant man preached a sermon, and you're throwing out the entire body of thought. Might you consider looking into the subject a little deeper? For instance - was what he said an accurate reflection of Christian beliefs? As a self-described free thinker, surely you recognize the value of research. So - do the research. It may simply confirm you in your beliefs. But what if it doesn't?

It's what you THINK not what you KNOW.
A free thinker who's never read the word? lol. Keep listening to what those preachers say. But if you really think that's going to disprove Christianity (what PEOPLE. PEOPLE. PEOPLE say, and not GOD) then so be it. I'll just sit here and keep laughing at just how many people don't read Gods word (even Christians) and sit around hating God for their lives being screwed up, when they've never read his word. (By the way, the bible speaks about all that.)
Same with the kid down there who says if God exists, he doesn't give a crap about us.
That's the most idiotic thing I've heard today. Another person who simply doesn't read the bible, and views Christianity in a fairy tale (God will save me if I jump off a building and if he doesn't he hates me) kind of aspect.
It's just all so funny. If that's what you choose to believe, fine. Both of you. Any of you. But there's no sense in ruining it for those of us who KNOW God exists, based on the work he's done on our lives, because we've ALLOWED him to.
Your problem is that you don't read the word, you listen to people. That's what most peoples issues are. They go to church, sit there, listen to the preacher/minister, whatever, when half of the churches out there today are corrupted and then turn around and hate God and Christianity, because of how they were taught by another human being. That's called, believing everything you *hear*.
I don't know, but I'd rather open the damn bible myself and see the truth instead of sitting for a couple of hours on Sunday in a building with other nuts who MAY become corrupted if their preacher/minister/pastor doesn't have a clue what he's really talking about.
For instance, the ones who say God will give you punishment in your life (like breaking your leg or taking away from you the good things and blah blah) in order to teach you a lesson. If you ever hear something like that, run out of that church and never look back. It's lies.
More people need to open the book and THEN judge what they think instead of listening to PEOPLE. With people you'll hear a thousand different things. The bible gives you a clear shot answer.

I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. She sounds like she was a remarkable woman.
It amazes me when Christians try to convert me by saying all none Christians will go to Hell.
I was sure from a young age (being raised Catholic) that the Bible was written by man and God was not real. Nothing since then has changed my mind.
Do you see any irony in Pastor Art's answer or is it just me?

You are trapped in the classic "Good Works or Faith" debate. The Christian church teaches that good works (all those great things your mom and dad did) are not the basis for entrance to Heaven - faith is (though faith without good works "is dead").
There are also Christians who would argue that your parent's exemplary lives are evidence of a faith in Christ that they themselves did not consciously understand that they had. Of course, that is the fundamental truth about religion (and politics); take credit for all that is good and blame others for all that is bad.

Christians are humans just like me and you. We make mistakes and commit sins because we are not perfect. But the truth is that anyone that doesn't accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. You be thinking that that is harsh, but because of sin, man was kick out of the kingdom of God. So even if your mom was a good person and did all these good deeds, that doesn't mean that she went to heaven. No one is allowed into the kingdom of Heaven if they didn't accept Jesus into their lives. Good deeds don't get you into heaven. Accept Jesus today into your life before Jesus comes for his church. My favorite verse that I love to use; "For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his ONE AND ONLY Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have EVERLASTING life" John 3:16. I know that the Bible is not wrong because of the miracles that I have seen and the feeling of God in my life. Email me if you have any questions.

It is a lie to claim that myth is truth. The affirmation of an ability to know about the existence of a good one in Heaven at war with an evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth is a fraud that follows from the lie that myth is truth. Conservative ideological authorities perpetrate this fraud inorder to be able; to make threats against the life and or afterlife of anybody who does not submit to their authority; and to extort from communities of faithful believers tithes and offerings in exchange for a lifelong indoctrination in a standard of conduct that these same ideological authorities proclaim to be the discovery of the truth about the will of a good one in Heaven at war with and evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth. Extortion based on threats made against the life and or afterlife of others and or a fraudulent affirmation of an ability to know about the existence of a good one in Heaven at war with an evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth should be considered a crime against humanity because in committing acts of extortion based on fraud that follows from the lie that myth is truth these ideological authorities lead communities of faithful believers to have a low esteem of self and world that is not conducive to happiness and good health.

If there is no God who do you think created the first people on earth? And who do you think made the earth, it certainly wasn't just sitting hear, you know someone had to create it? How do you explain what is being said in the bible being proved with science?
You can't go by what others have told you, you need to read the bible and make your own decision. Just like people aren't' going to tell you what to do in life, you got to do what you think is best for you.
