Mormons are Christian; we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:
1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.
Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

Mormon is a nickname given to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The term derives from the Book of Mormon, which the LDS use along with the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. The LDS Church also has an open canon - meaning, they believe in continued revelation to the body of the church today through the prophet which is the head of the church.

You are referring to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are not a part of any other church. They are an independent entity founded in 1830 in New York with an official membership of six men. Since then, the Church has grown to over 13 million members world wide. The essence of the Church is that Joseph Smith was visited by Jesus and His Father, God, in answer to prayer to know which church to join. They told him to join no church but that they had a work for him to do. Three years later he was visited by a heavenly messenger and given instructions for the next four years. At that time, he was given metal plates and the spiritual gift to translate the writings contained on those plates. The result was The Book of Mormon, hence the common nickname. The next year, the church was officially organized with priesthood authority having been received from other heavenly messengers sent from the presence of Jesus for the purpose of restoring the Gospel in its fullness. Today, Joseph's successors, having the priesthood authority from Christ, and acting according to revelation from God via the Holy Ghost, direct the affairs of the Church. For further general information go to lds.org or mormon.org.
I testify to you that the Church is indeed the Church of Jesus Christ.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) is the main religion referred to as Mormons.
There are other offshoot groups, like Warren Jeffs' group who also call themselves Mormons and many times people lump us all into the same category. However when most people talk about Mormons, they are referring to LDS.
We are Christians.

Yes, we are Christians. We accept more truth than the Bible alone. We believe in continuing revelation and we worship God the Father, we listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance, and we praise Jesus Christ, and attempt to follow in his ways... ie being compassionate, benevolent, self-controlled.
We believe that our religion (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is a divine restoration of truths lost through the centuries, after the prophesied "falling away" (Apostacy) of the early Christian church. We have been promised by God that since the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored in fulness, there will always be living prophets upon the earth, to guide and direct us. They hold the authority of the holy priesthood of God, as given by Jesus Christ to his Apostles.
We believe that families and marriage can be eternal... not just "till death do us part". Mormonism is a part of Christianity, albeit, a part that is rejected vehemently by many people who claim to worship the true and living God.
God bless.

Mormons don't like but one exclamation point or one question mark.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not part of the Protestant religions, but is a restoration of the original Church that Christ organized during His mortality, having with it all the priesthood authority and sacred temple ordinances long forgotten or eliminated.
