US President George W Bush has promised extra help to tackle Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq, following talks with Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Mr Bush offered to share intelligence with Turkey and declared the PKK rebel organisation "an enemy of Turkey, a free Iraq and the United States".

Turkey has threatened to hit bases used by the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) unless the US and Iraq do more to help.

Mr Erdogan said Ankara saw it as very important that there was a unified approach to tackling the PKK rebels."As strategic partners we are fighting jointly against terrorism in the world," he said.

He warned that the stability of the whole region would be affected by what happened in northern Iraq.

AND ANOTHER ONE...

Bush pledges fresh help to Erdoğan in fighting PKK terrorism, declaring them ‘an enemy of Turkey, a free Iraq and the United States.’ Erdoğan does not rule out a possible Turkish incursion into northern Iraq to fight PKK presence there.

WASHINGTON– TDN with agencies

President George W. Bush, vying to avert a Turkish incursion into Iraq, Monday pledged to step up U.S. military and intelligence cooperation and a new effort to bolster military cooperation to aid Turkey's fight against the northern Iraq-based separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) terrorist group.

During a meeting at the White House, Bush announced a new three-way military partnership grouping the United States, Turkey and Iraq to improve the sharing of intelligence and said Washington was considering additional steps.

Bush: PKK is common enemy

Bush called the PKK “an enemy of the United States” and offered to share intelligence with Turkey to try to halt the terrorist group’s attacks.

Erdoğan: Operation will be done

Erdoğan has made clear he wants concrete action from Washington to combat the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, which has been launching attacks on Turkey from Iraqi soil. The Turkish premier welcomed Bush's commitments but said his country had no plans to withdraw some 100,000 troops massed on the border with Iraq.
“We are not after war. We have a mandate from the Turkish parliament to conduct an (anti-PKK) operation,” Erdoğan said at Washington's National Press Club. “We received the mandate from Parliament and we will use it. Our target will be PKK, not civilians there,” Erdoğan said calling Turkey’s allies headed by “our strategic partner United States” to be with his country in this war against terrorism.

1915 HAPPENINGS..

Erdogan welcomed a decision by US lawmakers to shelve debate on a bill labeling Ottoman Empire massacres of Armenians during World War I as “genocide.”
He said the House of Representatives resolution on “the so-called Armenia genocide has the potential to deeply damage our strategic cooperation.” Fierce pressure from Turkey and the White House appears to have paid off for now, with the resolution’s Democratic authors agreeing late last month to delay a full House of Representatives vote after the bill was upheld by the foreign affairs committee. “We are ready to settle accounts with our history, but our documents indicate that no such genocide took place. In fact our values do not permit our people to commit genocide,Those who claim it, must prove it,” he said, renewing his offer to the Armenian government to set up a joint historical commission to examine the claims of genocide dating from the dying years of the Ottoman Empire.****************He got stars :)

Chuck, the PKK didn't come out of the woodwork in the past 5 years. They've been around for a while, nearly 30 years.

And the situation has no resemblance whatsoever to the Palestinian situation. The nation of Israel was plopped down on top of Palestine by Western powers. The lands which constitute southeastern Turkey in the present have been held by the various empires and nations which preceded modern-day Turkey.

In theory, it seems like it would be nice if every group with a different language and different culture could have their own nation, but the real truth is that most of them would not be able to take care of themselves at that level. Running a nation is a complicated operation, and providing for the needs of the people requires a lot of resources, or the key resources which provide a lot of the important resource - money, which would in turn provide the other necessities of life.

Sometimes it's better to be part of good country than to ask for your own country and find out you don't know what to do with it.

that's the way that Propaganda works. they conflict to physique public opinion by potential of utilising distinctive buzzwords to portray a similar photograph from distinctive perspectives. Bush's grandpa funded Hitler and his daddy ran the CIA. Bush is attentive to all approximately the thank you to apply propaganda. The PKK has been attacking Turkish civilians in Turkey with American weapons which have been funnelled to them. Even the puppet authorities of Iraq considers the PKK to be a 17 November.

Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. they were scud missiles filled with mustard gas. He gassed over 100,000 Kurds back in the 80's. After we (the United States) Expressed our displeasure and actually used the killing as evidence of Saddam having weapons. Now those ungrateful Kurds want to become terrorist and do to turkey what the Palestinians have been doing to Israel for years. The difference is turkey wont stand for it. I say turn the Turks lose and KILL THEM! it will be terrorist we wont have to worry about in 10 years. The Kurds don't want peace then bomb then into extinction.
