I have not kept up with the Busch series for the last couple seasons because of the buschwacking, and seeing Harvick and Carl get such a commanding point lead so early in the season the last two years as solidified my resolve...hold on, let me step off my soap box for a sec...
I just had this idea on Sunday morning. The reason Buschwacking makes the racing boring is because we are seeing the best drivers step into the best equipment, the same as the cup series. But I thought if a dominate team, let's say Roush, wants to run a car in the Busch series, he should put a series regular in the car or a development driver. And if a cup driver wants to run the Busch race, he should have to run with a second-rate team. So we would have the best drivers in second rate equipment, and second rate drivers in good equipment. I know the sponsors wouldn't go for it, but it might make things interesting?
Opinions?

...Nascar is thinking about making it so that the top 35 in points drivers from the Cup series can't earn points in the Busch (soon to be National) series. That way cup drivers still race in the National series but can't win a championship.
...An article on Nascar.com stated that Nascar doesn't want to stop the Cup driver's from competing there they just want to make it less appealing.
,,,But what you said sounds good too.

First thing we have to realize is apparently F1 is the development league for Nextel and not the Busch series. Then because the two and you can include trucks to a certain extent are so linked together as far as racing weekends its all about filling the stands and good TV ratings the best way to do that is with a few stars in the race.Remember this is all sponser driven and very costly, there really is no easy answers. But heres a thought why doesnt Hendrick field a serious Busch team? Could it be Rick only wants the one trophy in Nascar the one that really matters,I mean Edwards won the driver championship and Childress will probably win the owner championship in Busch, how proud do you think The Cat in the Hat is? If Jeter hits a home run off a 12 year old he's accomplished something I'm just not sure its scrapbook worthy.

What I would do is...
1. Limit the amount of cup drivers for the weekend. Still have enough that big names can race, but few enough that Busch drivers dont have to worry about being best Busch finisher in 15th place.
2. Allow first and maybe 2nd year drivers (depending on how the driver did in the points) to be able to run full time Busch, if they so please, but anyone else should be limited to a certain amount of races a season (allow a driver 10 or so races a season for example)

I just answered something like this this is how you stop it.
6 race at tracks that the cup driver did NOT get to test at.
No points just money.
If they want to run the Busch race after there 6 races they have to pass there cup race that weekend or when ever there next cup race is.
If the driver is not in the top 35 then this would not apply.
There are hundred's of ways and combinations that this could be done but I think the best way is tell them that if they are a cup driver regular then NNNNNNOOOOOOOO Busch races.

If you want to put an end to "Buschwhacking" it's real easy. If a driver has won two or more Cup races, he's not eligible to run in the Busch races. That would go a long way to leveling the field in the Busch series, still let drivers who are Cup regulars compete in Busch, and let the Cup stars concentrate on the Cup races.

I think that the drivers should be limited to 5 Busch series events per year. What we have now is kind of like Derek Jeter or Alex Rodriguez playing full time on a minor league team and bumping an up and coming player out of the line up.
But since that's not going to happen, I think that your approach is a good one. The problem is, you can't dictate which team a driver races for.

A great idea...also the Busch drivers are getting screwed by the F1 drivers infiltrating NASCAR..they should be compelled to spend at least 2 yrs in the Busch series and work their way up ...anyone of the F1 drivers with a strong foreign accent seems to automatically accepted...just don't seem right to me.

i stop following Busch because Nextel drivers drive that series to get practice for Sunday...the future of Nascar cant catch a break because guys like Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, and Carl Edwards dominate the series and we cant see up and comers test their skills...

this is what i say do away with bushwackers, let them have there own race, do you think these guys want to race with the big boys, they know going out there there car is not so good to race with the big boys, would the big boys let bush come in and race with them
with better cars that would beat them on any sunday think about that nascar. i dont watch bush any more because i know who the top ten or top five will win not bush, that is taking money away from the bush guys when is the last time a bush won a championship thank you very much.

Personally I think the BUSCH(Nationwide Series) should run the "pony cars" and stay on tracks 1 mile and smaller.
