Slow cookers are the best. You don't have to fry anything. Everything just gets thrown in and left for a few hours, and when you taste it, YUM!

I use my slow cooker often as it's a real time saver, just remember to start it on high for a while then turn it down to the low setting as your food will not over cook and will keep in the juices as needed. Some items you will need to add later if they are ones that don't require much cooking time.
You will have to gage what you put in there. I always add a little water to make sure there is enough moisture. Splendid for Spaghetti sauce, after you cook the meat balls on the stove add them to the sauce in your crock pot, just keep setting on low!! There are many recipes on line and "how to's" that you may want to check out.
Personally I like the slow cookers that have a removable insert for easier clean up! Also Some of the bigger slow cookers come with an insulted carrying case to tote your food if need be.

Sorry to be a kill joy, BUT......
You should never leave any electrical appliance that relies on a thermostat for any length of time unattended, IE Go out all day or go to work leaving it running..... OK so if your about the house maybe doing other jobs or even sitting outside in the sun..... but you should always be close by and check it on a regular basis......
Thermostatic controlled items can and do FAIL.....causing over heating and when you come home one day you may find you no longer have a kitchen in one piece.....
I , myself almost lost my home to a kitchen fire due to this.... lucky i was at home and put the fire out myself before the fire services arrived....... It cost several thousand pounds to make good the damage.... I was insured .....
Steve
PS.... Slow cookers are wonderful..... if used safely

Personally, I do not feel secure leaving the slow cooker on when I am out of the house. Afraid of a fire. I prefer Pressure Cookers. Own 4 of them and can put a meal on the table in less than 20 minutes.

I have a small one, and it works just fine. I make things like soups, chili, stew and the like. The thing is, my cooker only takes about 4 hours give or take a bit since it only holds a quart and a half max, so I have it on a timer so it starts up about 4 hours before I expect to get back home.

I had a slow cooker a long time ago and it wasn't a top of range one and you have to have top of the range with slow cookers, or they will not do the job... I wasted money buying a cheap one... You have to have one with the controls..

It's the best. I use it every sunday to cook the beef. Its so useful if I am out for the day, just put everything in and its ready when I get home. It's also great if the family are over I just make a chilli or curry and let it cook all day. That way I get time to spend with everyone.

I have had one for years and years.
I think its wonderful, especially for stews etc.,
I generally prepare and bung everything in either in the evening and cook it through the night, or sometimes I just set it all off just before I go to work, and I come home to wonderful aroma of a ready cooked piping hot meal, wonderful!!!!
And they use so little electricity, I was told as low as leaving a light bulb on. Got to be good for the environment !

Too small - I prefer to put the cooker timer on and cook in the oven.
