Your puppy is adolescent! He is a teenager and at a tough age! He may also be teething, which is around 6mths. Keep him occupied with safe things that he can chew, for example large knuckle bones are safe where as a squeeky toy or bits of hide can be dangerous as he would demolish them far too quickly, potentially being able to get them stuck. I appreciate it is impossible for you to supervise him all the time, however when you are not with him try to ensure he has limited access to the house, one room where he is shut in or a dog crate at night or alternatively has a run in the garden where he can safely be on his own. This will prevent him getting things he shouldn't. Other safe toys are larger durable toys (rubber kong balls are ideal, you can also put treats inside some of them) suitable for larger dogs or tug ropes, cotton twisted and knotted often multi coloured. Nylabones are also safe, you can even get some especially designed for teething dogs with different textures. If your dog is also greedy and gets easily bored you can also get food cubes that drop small pieces of food out when pushed. They can be quite noisy though if you have a hyperactive dog thrashing it round the room!
Chicken bones would be too small for a weirmaraner, and in fact they are dangerous for all dogs and even cats!
It is also worth noting that most dog toys in pet shops are dangerous, unless you go for the more expensive brands of safe toys such as kongs. It is definately worth paying a little more rather than buying a squeaky toy that lasts 5 minutes and ends up blocking your dogs intestines.
It is also good to take your dog for lots of exercise, 2 walks a day will mean less time spent being destructive, mental and physical exercise will ease chewing born from boredom.
Having a set routine, a nutritious balanced diet that is not too heating, regular puppy training, socialisation of other dogs/ people and animals, patience and love, plenty of exercise and willing play mates will help your dog get through his adolescent stage!

Weimiraner are famous for chewing up stuff and getting intestinal problems. Just keep trying to buy something he cannot break off pieces. Talk to your local butcher and have him save you a giant leg bone. Cut off any of the fat and he will think he went to heaven

If he is chewing through his kong you need to get him a bigger/stronger one. Puppies like to chew. A LOT!!! ON EVERYTHING!! He is acting normal. I would keep him supervised though as he could eat something dangerous and get him some extra tough chews and toys. Try more excersize as well, it may calm down the chewing habit.

My jack russell is a chewer. She loved rawhide, but they made her sick. My vet suggested a "hard sterile bone." It's basically a piece of cow bone that doesn't have anything on it. They have them at Petco (and probably other places too). This is something you'll have to watch him with too -- since he's chewing on bone, it can wear his teeth down if he does it for too long at a time. (Check with vet)

Chicken bones are not good for dogs. They can splinter and puncture their intestines. So, no more chicken bones. Try those rawhide chews...they're safer.
