Try to remember that changing an others life is not what God expects or wants you to do for him.
He wants you to give your life over to him and then spread the good news about what he has done for you to all the ends of the earth.
If you understand the good news and have accepted it, you are qualified to spread it.
Give up on helping others though. Let God do that. Things will turn out better when we let him do things his way after all.

Mathew 7:1-5
"Don't Criticize, and then you won't be criticized. For others will treat you as you treat them. And why worry about a speck in the eye of a brother when you have a board in your own? Should you say, 'Friend, let me help you get that speck out of your eye,' when you can't even see because of the board in your own? Hypocrite! First get rid of the board. Then you can see to help your brother.

Come on!!! you know that christians don't believe in that type of stuff. It is easier for them to put other down to feel better about themselves, than to try and improve themselves. If you are too busy defending yourself from them, you will not have the time to tell them about thier faults.

remove the beam in your own eye before you worry about the speck in your brothers.
Matthew 7:3 >>
and Romans
"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. 3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS: 7 to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; 8 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God.

Mat. 7:3 - 5: Why do you worry about the speck in your brother's eye but do not notice the log in yours? How can you say "Here, brother, let me help you with that speck in your eye" when you have a log in your eye? Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, then you will be able to see clearly to attend to the speck in your brother's eye.

Well, in Matthew 7:3-5, it talks kind of about fixing yourself before you try to help others fix themselves.
hope this helps =]
