You "need" a kitten or you want one and you've researched owning one and you have the means to pay for quality food, toys, beds and vet bills? And if you're a kid (as you sound) your parents want a cat as well and have agreed to pay for everything?
No - Petco does not sell cats and dogs. They often do give space for shelters to display adoptable pets, though. The shelter I work with has cats and kittens in every Petco in our area.
Six weeks old is too young for the kitten to be spayed or neutered. Kittens need to be eight weeks of age and two pounds in weight before they're adopted out. But you should already know this if you want to be a cat owner as you should learn about them BEFORE you get one.
FYI - unless you're adopting a shelter pet that's at a stores pet stores are NOT where you should be getting a kitten from. Kittens in pet stores generally come from very unhealthy surroundings where they're mass produced and often quite sickly. You're also going to pay a ridiculous amount of money to the store and then still have to pay for spaying or neutering, testing for various diseases, shots, etc. Go to a shelter and you can get a kitten with all of this already done for about $100.00.

The petco around here donsn't...they just have rodents and things like that. I adopted my kitten Louis from a Petsmart that had a humane society kennel....he has been wonderful. And Kirby my other kitty was adopted from a farmer's ad in the paper...so you could check there...but if you get a kitten from a pet store, they might be REALLY expensive. Farms sometimes give them away for free, and humane societies only charge about $40 around here.
Good luck...and remember..cats are a big responsibility...they need food, water, love, and litter boxes cleaned out daily. Don't get one just cause you want something cute and fuzzy...they require much more than that.

6 week old kittens are too young to be adopted. They should stay with their mom until at least 8 weeks of age.Try calling Petco or going to a shelter.

Animal shelters near by have all kinds of kittens that you can adopt and they come with their shots and a few free check ups after you buy them.
Call your nearest animal shelter and it will be worth your while to adopt a little one there. Not all Petco stores have them.

If they carried kittens that young they should be holding them in the back till they're older, about 8 weeks, and ready to go to homes. Six weeks is too young and if they haven't gotten enough training from their moms they could have behavior problems showing up.

Rather than asking us here, you need to call the Petco that is closest to you! We don't know where you live or what laws you have in your area that may prohibit the sale or adoption of animals!
