Noah SIMMS, 84, for 10 years a resident of Fulton, died at his home there of heart failure Sunday night. He had been ill but a short time. Mr. Simms formerly lived at Twelve Mile.
Mr. Simms had been married twice. His first wife died, leaving him with two sons and two daughters. A second wife, Sarah SMITH, whom he later married, was burned to death in Fulton. Mr. Simms had been a farmer. He was a member of the Christian church.
Surviving Mr. Simms are the four children, three of whom live away from Fulton. Mrs. WARD, a widow, and Mr. Simms' daughter, who had kept house for her father, survives.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at Skinner's Chapel near Twelve Mile.

(it would appear that there was more than one Noah Simms)
Did any of the children survive long enough to have a death certificate?
edit.. the key here might be the ages of the children, in order to estimate the death of the first wife

I found a Noah Sims, b. 1840 in North Carolina, d. ?, father of Joshua, Kate, Lewis and Sarah Sims, married to Celia Smith in abt. 1859 in North Carolina. Another user has him listed as born in Indiana but in about 1813.
