I work as a Recruitment Manager looking after a small team and recruiting on my own desk too for a small satellite office. Frustrated at the lack of input or support - about 3 months ago i asked for help. To date, my bosses have not helped at all and often ignore my e-mails or calls. Today both bosses came to visit and said the office is not commercially viable. So, they have given me a choice - walk and the office will be closed. We will all be paid until the end of December. Stay - and I have too sack two people, then they will set targets that I have to meet. these will probably be set far too high to actually achieve - and with the fact that I will now be the only consultant in the office - virtually impossible. If they are not met - they will close the office anyway, but will dismiss and not pay us anything for december. So, I'm backed in a corner - damned if I do, damned if I don't!! Help and advice please?!!!! should I stay or should I go? My boss is calling me tomorrow.

Take the money and run. Screw your bosses. They obviously don't know how to run a successful business, and can't afford to provide helpful resources to you when you needed it. Now they're using you as the scapegoat. Leave while there's still time, and let them clean up the mess, not you!

Well I would say talk to your boss and tell him this. Ask him this very question. Next if that doesn't work ask him if there are any other jobs open in the company you could work at. At last if he turns all of these down leave. It's best choice because you can have time to file for all the jobs you can, and have an easier time getting a new job. So to make sure that he is hurting you nd (if he is a decent guy) he may feel sorry for you if you have it so ruff (but I don't know if you do). Remember all things happen for a reason.!

I also think you should get out while the getting is good. I would also suggest that you either get the offer for pay through December in writing or ask for a lump sum payment and then walk out. This is a hard time of year to find a job. You need to put away some money until the second week of January when hiring managers start to look for new employees. What ever you do good luck at it.

I don't suggest just quitting, but if you don't see any potential for meeting the goals, I'd consider leaving and taking the severance pay. This at least guarantees you a paycheck in December.
You should also be looking for another opportunity no matter what as you seem to think you will be unemployed shortly no matter what.
It sounds like your bosses want the office closed no matter what. The holiday season is not the easiest to get clients either unless you place a lot of temporary seasonal help.
I hope all works out long term

First have them tell you what the goals are that you will need to meet. If after they tell you what you will need to do you can make a better decision.
If you feel that you can not make the goals, then perhaps cutting it off now would be the better thing to do. If you are getting paid for 2 months, this gives you some time to look for another job. If you find another job in a couple of weeks you actually may come out ahead.

Get out while you can I would say...take ur pay til December, and try and get another job. You have obviously pretty good office skills...so it shouldn't be a problem getting a job? The stress and anxiety that staying will cause you will make it probably not worth it. You'll be unhappy and worried all the time. I'd walk and take ur months pay.
Good luck...(Just my opinion)

1. You don't fire people. People fire themselves based on what they choose to do or don't do.
2. If you are goal driven, you will take on the challenge and figure out a way to not only meet expectations, but exceed them.
It really depends on what kind of person you are. I'd look at this as a challenge and be hellbent on exceeding expectations because, "Screw them!" ;)

I would stay and give him Holy Hello until he just made me leave. But you should probably just go now because it sounds like that's what he wants you to do anyway.
