I'm going to have a few of these questions because I need about 100 dogs and their heart rates(just use your hand). I'm going to do some myself but theres no way I can get 100 unless I get some help so thank you! I would also need their height from their withers or shoulders down and if possible, their weight and breed. Once again, THANK YOU!!!!! (and for people who've seen this a million times, sry)
i need the height, breed, and heart rate of dogs for my science fair project. we have this thing called science fair investgations where if we pass the class we go to biology next year so this project is for a grade for us and apparently, the "magic number" is 100. it would really help if you helped out.

to measure heart rates of dogs, you find the area between their 2 forelegs and count the number of beats in 15 seconds *4 or in a minute.

Actually, I can tell you the magic number is not 100. Heart rate will vary with the size and age of the dog.
UPDATE: Oh, gotcha.. I apologize! Here you go, hope this helps:
Saint Bernard, female, 34" at withers, 130 pounds, heart rate: 62
Newfoundland, female, 26" at withers, 125 pounds, heart rate: 67
My foster:
Saint Bernard, male, 29" at withers, 150 pounds, heart rate: 63

hey willow, you measure heart rate by feeling the dogs pulse and counting how many pulses or heart beats you feel or hear (if you use a stethescope) per minute, you need a watch or clock with a second hand, after one minute, write down the number of beats you felt/heard. the questioner said place your hand over the dogs heart to feel the heart beat. I have an irish wolfhound puppy, he is 5 months old, and weighs 76 lbs. I'm sorry I don't know how tall he is, I have no measureing tape or yard stick to measure him and no second hand watch or clock belive it or not, but he is as tall as my dinning room table and he is tall enough to drink water from the faucet of my bathroom sink, his head comes way above the stove he is always trying to sniff or grab hot food right from the pan. I hope that helps, you might want to go to shelters and rescues to get your 100 dog quota. that would be much easier and quicker than asking on yahoo answers. I dougt if you get 100 or even 50 answers here.
