A brief overview, for those who don't like to read the whole story:

The new law restricts the ability of illegal immigrants to obtain government IDs or public assistance. It also gives police authority to check the immigration status of anyone arrested, which can lead to deportations.

It doesn't stop at illegal immigrants. The law also makes it a felony for U.S. citizens to knowingly provide shelter, transportation or employment to illegal immigrants

From the story...
Latino supporters are up in arms about the way the state now views illegal immigrants who have been here for many years.

"You are guilty of ethnic cleansing in this community! You are going against my community!" said the Rev. Miguel Rivera of the National Coalition of Latino Clergy.

My comment
Ethnic cleansing my A@@! GOOD! This country should have been doing this all along! I hope more states continue to follow suit.
I've been telling people for a while now that things are coming to a head concerning the immigration thing and this is just the beginning of that. Get used to it folks. This is OUR country. Come here legally or don't come.

Yes I agree..this is a BIG move forward.

Our fragile National Monuments, National Wildlife Refuges, National Parks, and National Forests along the U.S. southern border are being annihilated.

Please view the website, listed in source below, thoroughly and see the Photos and read the interviews with local people about the Mexican Invasion and the destruction that is being caused. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is now considered to be the Most Dangerous National Park in the US. See why.

This is not only a job and benefit problem that tax paying citizens shoulder but also a major problem for the destruction of our natural recourse. Some of the National Forest in Colorado have become havens for Illegals that are manufacturing meth.

The taxpayers are digging deep into their pocket to pay for the newly established National Forest Police. A Forest Fire started by one meth lab explosion could destroy thousands of acres of oxygen providing forest.

The taxpayers (citizens) are also digging deep to pay for many other program that are placing small rural communities on the verge of bankruptcy while the illegals contribute nothing and are the causes of the problems.

YES..it is way past time to put and END to all this..before it's to late..Some things are already on the verge of being irreversible.

Thank you
Please go to the website and just look at what is going on. I have been to some of these areas and have seen it with my own eyes.

My God this makes me think of the Gestapo hunting down Jews during WWII.

And Jewish sympathizers hiding Jews except this time it is Mexicans.

As much as I see parallelisms, I know the law and it is illegal to immigrate to this country without going through the process. And... if anyone is enabling others to immigrate to this country illegally by offering food and shelter, including my own faith the Catholic Church, then I have to side with my government and enforce the laws established by people who have studied the problem and have made the laws.

No mas to illegal immigration.

Yes. Or perhaps maybe even go further. Illegal immigration is a serious problem, which is only growing worse because politicians don't want to do anything about it. This is contrary to what the general public seems to want according to most polls.

Personally, I have no problem with immigration in this country. Immigrants built this country, period! My problem is with illegal immigrants. There is a difference, a big difference. This leads me to a question; WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DO POLITICIANS, (and many American citizens), NOT UNDERSTAND?

Yes, more states should adopt OK immigration laws. What some answers fail to understand is that most states don't have laws against illegal immigration and the federal govt can't get rid of the illegal aliens by themselves. Yes, there are federal laws against illegal immigration, but that states don't have the authority to enforce them. We need the states to pass laws to rid our nation of the illegal alien invaders because our federal govt is not doing its job.

I wish it were so but I think some of our states are too afraid to enact a policy that really works like OK. did. It's a shame too, what weak minded people really want illegals here? Other than the government of Mexico?

Yea,now let's see who's going to pick your crops and build your homes. Better yet, who's going to clean those hotel/motel rooms? Next time you walk into the supermarket and see that produce section, remember it was an illegal that made it possible. I bet it wasn't Biff or Muffy who got their white @sses out bending over in the hot sun harvesting fruit and vegetables for $8.00 an hour.

It surely is a step in the right direction.
The people who say such a move infringes the human rights of immigrants should be deported too.

Most of the restrictions exist in current law. There is no need to duplicate efforts. Too many cooks and all that.

Aiding and abetting has always been an offense, but it is generally the same level of offense as the original offense. In other words, it would be hard to prosecute someone with a felony when the immigrant was only charged with a misdemeanor.

Finally, it appears the law plugs a hole that federal courts have previously struck down. It requires the US citizen to know that someone is here without permits. Now, it sounds very easy to determine that, but as a matter of fact, as you walk down the street, can you pick out the people who are here without a legal basis? I doubt it, and the only agency that can determine that is Homeland Security.
