NO They don't work. The concept is that they emit high frequency sound waves as air passes thru the little black plastic housings (Peel and stick mounted on your front bumper) that make Deer supposedly shy away. #1 they don't even come close. Consumer Reports actually ran a test on them in the late 90's and it was found that they do emit ultrasonic sound waves, but not enough or at a high enough range for a Deer to hear them let alone be afraid of the noise. #2 They also figured out a vehicle would have to be going a minimum of 60 mph to even register or be able measure the levels on an audio-monitor that measures sound level strengths.
Any avoided collisions with Deer are only strictly coincidental

It is hard to say.
I had them on my vehicle when I lived in the country when I was a teenager. I never hit a deer when I had them.
I also had a rock I kept in my cup holder. Perhaps the rock is the reason I didn't hit any deer.
When I had them, I made sure to clean them out with a toothpick once a month. They would clog with dirt and bugs and I'm sure they weren't making any noise because of it.
I know others who had these devices and had hit deer.
Do they work? I'd cautiously say yes, but like I mentioned, you kind of have to keep them clean.
The only part that makes me think that they might not work is how is the deer know that the whistle means to run away? Do they not hear the car coming and see the big lights?
Personally, I haven't had them on a vehicle in almost 20 years. I still haven't hit a deer (I don't have my rock anymore either...I guess the rock wasn't keeping the deer away either)
They might work, but personally, I'd save the money. If they really worked, I'm sure Ford and GM would list them as an option when you buy a car and charge $150 for them.

Heck no. Any deer that doesn't run from the sound of a car going 55mph ain't going to run from a whistle that I cant even hear lol
Deer always gather along roadways to eat the grass that grows there due to the lack of trees. They are born around the sounds of cars and they get use to it so they end up being ran over.
Just drive slow and be much more cautious around the full moon

studies have shown that more deer are hit by cars with deer horns on them than cars without. Apparently the noise created causes the deer to stop and try to identify the noise long enough to get ran over.

I have heard a number of wildlife specialists say that they are useless and not to waste your money. I had a friend who had two of them on his motorcycle and a deer jumped out of a ditch right in front of him causing him to hit it and wreck his motorcycle. He broke his neck but lived to tell about it. His wife was badly injured when she was thrown from the motorcycle. They didn't work then and they don't work now. Save your money.

deer frequently run out in front of semi trucks , Harley's with drag pipes & sometimes air liners with 4 jet engines running wide open at take off. so do you think a tiny little plastic whistle is going to stop them?

We had lots of problems hitting deer in the past and tried them, we seemed to hit the same number of deer with as without id say save your money. honestly the deer can hear your vehicles engine long before it hears the little whistle anyway
