DID is a very rare disorder; most people who profess to have it are either fooling around or outright lying or deluded. ^Type either "Dissociative Identity Disorder" or "multiple Personality disorder" int5o Yahoo! web search to find links with info on its causes, symptoms, occurrence and treatment.

I do not have it and have never met anyone else who has definitely had it. I have been in many mental health wards and never hear about it there. Schizophrenia is often erroneously thought to be a "split personality" and patients to have more than one identity but this is not true.

Good luck in your research, good metal health, peace and Love!

I have been diagnosed by 4 separate doctors as having Dissociative Identity Disorder. The first dissociation we've managed to trace so far was between the age of 12-24 months old. It's as real as any other disorder or illness and it can be extremely frustrating to live with. I lose time on nearly a daily basis right now though my therapist tells me that eventually that should stop if progress continues. I am sure there are those who fake any illness that exists for whatever reasons, but I assure you that, as one who actually does live with this condition on a day-to-day basis, it is not something anyone could rationally desire to have.
