Start a business or work for your family. Maybe your spouse could start a company and you can do the labor.

We get some prisoners at our hospital who need medical attention...and I have heard from some of them that they go to a "career counselor" who is normally someone who is free through the state...you could call your local unemployment office to see what resources they have. A woman that I work with...her husband...had to have a kind of "bummer" job for a few years...he worked as a laborer on a farm for 3 years...then after a good solid work history he was able to get a job at a local factory. But I would either call the prison/jail...or the local unemployment office and see where you can get in touch with a career counselor.
Good luck to you.

first of all, don't break the law any more.
secondly, go to the employers who employ illegal aliens...they don't ask many questions. build up your work history that way and eventually you can try to get an attorney and see about expungement. I don't know if you can expunge a felony record, but it's worth checking into.
So if you can do construction or roofing work, perhaps you can find a job. I wish you luck.

Try your best. Not many places will hire ex felons cause they are a huge liability but there are some poeple who believe in 2nd chances or many other chances. Never give up sometimes your personality gets you hired and not your record. Real hard though so good luck.

Do you have someone who can vouch for you? Can you go to some type of social services and have them help you find one? I know of felons who have gotten construction jobs and such - so it IS possible. Have you spoken with rehabs and shelters? I know you are a "felon" but these places might have connections with people who are more sympathetic.
It IS possible. Hang in there.

Never give up. Re-invent yourself as "the best darn whatever you want to be". Start building a portfolio of support to include letters of recommendation from local leaders, clergy, business owners, etc. who can lend some influence. That's one idea.
