Casualy talk him and find out if the two of you have familier interest. If you decide you do then you should ask him if he would like to get together sometime to partake in that interest i.e wine,movies,sports,fine dining etc. And then he will give you his # if he is inerested in spending time with you.

This has always worked for me:
If he's interested, casually say you want to hang out sometime and he will give you his number.
Don't just ask for his number. It'll make things too obvious and easy.
