A variety of factors can cause a ruptured eardrum. These include a prior infection, injury and noise. Most ruptured eardrums heal within a few weeks without treatment. If the tear or hole in your eardrum doesn't heal by itself, you may need treatment.
If you're still having problems after few weeks definately consult a doctor, but I would have it looked at now anyway.

It depends how badly the eardrum is ruptured. Mine ruptured a couple of years ago from a bad ear infection, and it took me at least 3 weeks to get the ringing out of my ear.

Depends a bit of how good you protect the ear from pressure changes; usually between 2 - 4 weeks.

If you really do have an ear problem, do NOT mess 'round.
See your GP. ASAP. He will assess you & if needed will refer you to a Specialist.
