In my opinion because there exists some truths (Mathematics ) which are necessary. Some of those truths are isomorphic to the reality we find ourselves in.

Reality looks like space and time because we see so little of it. Nothing is ever really created. The key here is a powerful selection effect (our own existence ) which selects the portion of reality we find ourselves in.

Our understanding of reality is layered. You see the world in terms of large physical objects. But you are aware that those are illusions made up of atoms, and atoms in turn are made of smaller particles. Many believe that these so called "fundamental" particles are not fundamental but are built on a layer of mathematical objects called strings. My belief is that all reality is built upon mathematics and mathematics is what is fundamental.

The reason why we see top layers instead of lower layers is due to our inability to see all of the the details in the lower layers.

What is the meaning of life? Life is that property of plants and animals which makes ir possible for them to take in food, get energy from it, grow, adapt themselves to their surroundings, and reproduce their kind; it is the quality that distinguishes a living animal or plant from inorganic matter or a dead organism.

Why are we on this earth? I do not know.

What is the purpose of living? Each living person must choose the purpose of his or her life, but many attempts have been made to suggest that one purpose is preferable to another. Some say a religious life is best, devoting one's life to a supernatural being. Others say that one should dedicate himself to his own happiness regardless of the opinion of others. Many of the ancient Greeks thought in terms of eudaimonia, a state of self-fulfillment in which one lives up to the unique abilities of humankind. The Buddhists express similar remarks about achieving enlightenment.

In my view, life is a resource. It does not command us to a course of action. Rather, it is commanded by sentient beings. As the existentialists would say, "Existence precedes essence." Life does not come ready-made with a purpose. It takes on the one we give it.

Easy,,,
To help the land of which we live in so that are species stay alive, to enjoy ourselves so that we in turn give fourth positive change to the world and those around us, and to bring fourth life to the world in order to keep our species around. It's a code embedded by all things in Nature. Some of us don't follow these things...but that just means they are unique and will do something for Nature or mankind in another way or aspect.

I'm not an atheist but I wanted to read the answers they would give. I saw a lot of sarcasm and downright hatred. All from a very simple question. Makes me glad I do believe in God.

We make our own meaning. If you're talking about some objective hidden from us meaning then I think the question is presumptuous.

The question assumes there is a meaning. Why must life have a meaning other than what we make it? If the answer is you just refuse to accept that it doesn't then that is your limitation.

We're here because we're here. The meaning you give to your life is different for each person. There is no one objective reason why we are on earth. Why do you want to know?

We're not here for any reason. Life is extrinsically meaningless.

However, because we are self-aware, we can pretend it has some form of meaning if we wish to.

For me the meaning of life is to be a good father to my daughter and to play the fiddle--what else do I need?
