They have cities that no infidel can go into. They have Islamic countries. They are free to practice their religion in non-Islamic countries. No one cares about they way they dress, only Muslims do. It seems most oppression comes from Muslims themselves, either by their leaders or the way they treat "infidels" and women.
So what am I missing? Is all this because of Israel/Palestine? It can't be because of Iraq since terror and "oppression" has been going on for a lot longer than 4 years.
Thanks. Have a great day.

Dr No - How can a question be oppressive? I wanted a serious intelligent answer, which apparently you are unable to provide.

Dr No - Please explain how this question is bigoted? I doubt that you can deny anything I stated or asked, unless you were dishonest.

ahmad - I wish you would explain your answer better. The Taliban was oppressing people, women and girls especially. Al Qaeda attacked the USA and was hiding out there. I already said the problems existed way before Iraq. Please explain how this forum is oppressive? You are free to give your opinion. That's a great thing! An opinion cannot hurt you unless you allow it to.

hayaa - I'm glad you answered. You've come closest to giving an explanation. But I have to ask you this. Are strange looks reason enough for claiming oppression? Were you denied services, imprisoned, given lashes, stoned? Many people, unfortunately, will stare at or remark about things they are not familiar with. Also, some Muslims have given Americans every reason to be a little suspicious of all Muslims. They came to the USA, lived among us, used our laws against us and murdered thousands. We hear recordings and see videos that still say to attack. Some even tell us to convert. I guess you can understand some people wanting to be cautious.
I don't believe though that your life has been threatened the way the lives of infidels have been. At least I pray that you haven't been.

412envy - I think every person in the world can claim to be oppressed for some reason...race, gender, religion, being overweight, not attractive, wearing glasses, having a physical handicap. That's life!! Aren't you glad you live in a country that will find justice for you for the wrongs committed against you.. In Islam, there is no way to wrong the injustices done by Islam because it claims to come from God. How do you veto God? How do you take God to court?
Muslims though have claimed this as a whole from the start.

Bingo. By George you have got it.
Have you noticed in most if not all situation that is related between the Muslims, and non Muslims, it is without any question is going to be diverted to Israel/Palestine! it is.
be careful. In Islam everything can be offensive and oppressive even if came out of the Muslims themselves. Case in point Sunnis vs. Shia. Both Muslims, and both claims the other one is not. Need to say more!
In the time of Muhammad. The Jews refused to believe him. and for that, Muhammad came back with force armed to the teeth, and kicked them and the Christians out of their own town. The town! Mecca. Now, if you are not a Muslims caught in Mecca, you will chance the possibility of public execution. Fact look it up.
Ahmed, good idea take a look at what your brother and sister are doing to each other. Sad. Picture it. Nice lovely day for a wedding. Place Jordan. Some people took it upon themselves to crash the wedding and having a fire work show that got 67 Muslims killed, by whom. Muslims.
Edit:
You are an American Muslim. correct. You my dear don't know what is prejudice untill you live in the Arab world, or is it the Muslims world! Take a look at Egypt an see how non Muslims are treated. Take a look at Saudi and see how a woman will be treated if she didn't dress as they wish! take a look at how the Muslims are treating other Muslims, and then my good lady, come back and tell us how it feels.
We hear and read eveywhere in US and the UK how Islam is the religion of peace when at the same time we see how some Muslims are doing to each others let alone non muslims. But, in the Muslim world. You will not hear that non muslim religion are peaceful.

I got an experiment for you. Let's see if you are up to it...
If you're a woman:
I want you to buy or even rent an abaya and a niqab. Eh, instead of niqab, make it a hijab if you like. Better yet, so you REALLY get the impression... get a long skirt or trousers and a long-sleeved, long blouse (that comes below your bum), and a hijab.
If you're a man:
Grow out your beard for a few weeks, then buy/rent a kufi.
Once you have your materials, book a flight to D.C. Weekender or a one-way would do. No time for trips? Just make it a quick visit to see some sights you might have never seen before, or make it a family trip if you have any. It'll be fun and won't waste the ticket money.
Before your flight, have a run around town. Go by the post office, to the grocery store (but don't buy alcohol or you'll give yourself away and ruin the experiment), the bank, heck, even take a stroll through the park or library. Note what different reactions you get.
Now take your flight. Act normally like you usually do (I hope you're normal, lol), and again, note the reactions and treatments you get.
Try doing that for a couple days, or a week even. Then come back and report to us. If you come back and say everything was wonderful - GREAT! You proved your point! If you don't come back, we'll write to Guantanamo.
I actually did an experiment similar to this for my Cultural Anthropology class. I wore a niqab to the bookstore, and my classmate observed and took notes of the reactions and what people said. We noticed that generally the younger the person was, the more accepting they were. The older, the more rude or put-off they were. I passed by a couple older ladies (50-ish) who gave me a look like I just slapped em across the jaw. The younger adults (20's and 30's) kinda stared for a bit. The teens had a conversation about the different types of coverings Muslim women use. The kids were the cutest! They glanced, froze for a second, then gave a big smile. They can see someone's personality in their eyes (too bad others have to look further down to notice anything).
Edit: Well thankfully I haven't been threatened, but I'm an incredibly picky person when it comes to who I associate myself with. I learned this at a young age (pre-conversion). And I have to say that for every one threat that has been placed on America by an extremist who calls himself Muslim, there have been 100 more by good ol' home grown Americans themselves. Yet people forget about that because they aren't quite on the news and in the paranoia chats these days. So by your reasoning, we should fear Americans just as much, if not more.
Truth is we're threatened by every walk of life these days because people just don't like the way we behave. And if we continue this mad way of running the country, it'll one day lead to our own failure. Not very many people like us these days, yet we tend to pick on a certain culture or religion because it's popular to do so. Think about it, when do you feel anger towards Arabs and Muslims the most; when your watching Scrubs or Brothers and Sisters, or when you see a program dedicated to showing the "dark side" of Arabs and Muslims? And if you think strange looks is all we get, try that experiment I suggested. Keep in mind that my OWN experiment took place in a Barnes and Noble. Not many people there are as ignorant or willing to be rude and disrespectful.
Ask Army Capt. James Yee, Bisher al-Rawi, Murat Kurnaz, Wazir Mohammad, Muhammed al-Qahtani (who was supposed to be one of the hijackers on 9-11), and Abu Bakkir Qassim how they all feel about being not oppressed.

I think you are a villager living all by yourself in your house. You should travel around and visit the Muslims even if you can find them somewhere in your country. U sound like a country bumpkin whose getting all the news from the media. Go to a muslim country, Malaysia or Dubai or even Iran or Saudi, there r lots of non Muslims living happily, sadly you are the miserable one watching only the media.

Muslims are oppressed because of the US support of Israel , they supply Israel with over a billion a year in Military support to bomb and kill Palestinians . The US taking out a Democratically elected Government in Iran - anyone remember Mohammad Mosaddeq ? The UN along with many countries keeping the Middle East a third world with trade embargo's . I could go and on .

you in common terms participate of it, please examine and translate the entire ingredient and not in common terms one sentence from it. like it says in Surah anfaal (summarize) Allah is an enemy to dibelievers, yet people who do no longer combat with you approximately your faith or take you out of your properties then you definately would nicely be honest with them and Allah certainly loves people who're honest.

May be the problem lies behind the fact that they felt "unwanted" by the world. The Jewish people branded them as "bad, evil, non-believer's of the God Almighty". That caused a rebellious action and the problem was not "oppressed" but world society looking at them as "unwanted savages". Think about it, and now the world society is ridiculing their ALLAH and their QURAN. Then Prez Bush decides for himself that ALL of USA will not tolerate these uncivilized people. When ONE man decides to put evil on the USA, why should the USA taken "war actions" on that whole country? What are the "motives"? It will backfire and the USA may be the ones oppressed.

Because people of faith are delusional and they need to make enemies or at least make themselves believe they have enemies in order for their faith to grow. This isn't exclusive to Muslims.
