I have limewire and utorrent, and I checked my downloads&uploads this morning, and it says I uploaded over 1GB of stuff...

my Q is does limewire or utorrent upload without my consent?

One posting is more than enough, please allow us enough time to answer ( <4 Hours).

Peer to peer programs, aren't inherently dangerous, but when used to download illegally, bad things can and do happen.

So, yes, they do "upload without my consent", that's how they work.

Limewire uploads only if someone is downloading a file you have shared.

Utorrent (and torrents in general) on the other hand upload AND download at the same time. This is by design and cannot be prevented.
