There are reserve units that do get called up to active duty and go to Iraq. You are never guaranteed not going to Iraq unless you change your MOS to recruiting. I know many people though that joined reserve, but converted over to active voluntarily because they liked basic/AIT so much. Hope this helps!!

Yes. At present there are over 90 thousand members of the National Guard and Reserves who have been mobilized. And quit posting this question in hopes of getting a different answer. It doesn't work that way. Things are or they aren't. It's called the real world.

Yes, she can be sent over seas to fight. If she is needed (which she is) they can deploy her anywhere they wish for a "year" but it can be extended for a longer period of time. Reserves are used to help alleviate the use Full time soldiers so that everyone could rest.

RESERVES GO JUST AS MUCH AS ACTIVE AND NATIONAL GUARD. MY RESERVE UNIT WENT 2 TIMES IN 4 YRS
ITS THE ARMY, AND A TIME OF WAR, IF YOU JOIN, THERE IS A PRETTY BIG CHANCE YOU'LL GO.

if your friends unit is activated she is off to war this can happen at any time the US gov decides - so sorry yes she can be called to go to war even after basic.

She will be in for however her contract states....people in basic training dont get called up, b/c they havent been fully trained....but anytime after that she can be, she needs to read her contract she signed and see how long she signed up for and let you know...
