My daughter was on Trazodone and became dependant on it. It did work but if she forgot it and wasn't home she couldn't sleep.

Trazodone is actually an anti-depressant that doctors found works well for insomnia. I took Trazodone for a while to help me sleep, and I didn't find it very effective. My problem was I kept waking up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep; it helped me fall back asleep, but I kept waking up anyway. It might work for you, so give it a shot!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I took Trazodone for a while myself. It did seem to really help me fall asleep. When I was taking traz, I was on some other meds that caused insomnia. The trazodone really seemed to help me sleep. Just don't drive after you take them!!

one of the major side effects of trazodone is sleepiness, so yes, it is an effective sleep agent, it also has the added benefit of adding to your prozac's antidepressant qualities as well.

yes it does help. I take it myself. I know if I do not take it I can toss and turn most of the night. I am on a lower dose so your dose will work. Only take no earlier than 15 minutes before you go to bed. It will disorient you when you first start taking it.

Yes it will help you sleep but, it is a heavy psychotropic medication. Just drink a glass of warm milk with a little nutmeg.
