The Jews rejected Jesus Christ, so those of the Jewish faith would not be followers of Jesus Christ(Christians).
Being a Jew is not a religion, the only Jews are those that are of the linage of Judas, as Jesus was. You can not become a Jew, just like any other race, you have to be born into it; how ever you can follow the ways of the Jewish faith.
Religion is the worship of God; they may all worship the same true God, but the old Jewish faith is still being use by the Jewish faith. Jesus did away with some of the old Sabbaths, such as sin offerings, some of the holy days, and replaced the priest with Him self, so we can now go straight to God the Father through Him.

I am a Christian who has occasionally considered converting to Judaism since I learned that I am biologically half-Jew.
I believe that many Christians identify with Jews to some extent, because they believe Christianity to be an offshoot of Judaism.
Most Jews do not feel the same way. The following is a link to a website run by a man, a rabbi, who I would characterize as a chauvanistic Jew---a characterization that has also been applied to Jesus, BTW...and it is not a bad site, but it does have a few things in it that feel a bit offensive to me---he more or less calls Christianity a pagan religion...but it is informative...

No. I do not believe that all Christians are Jews.
However, I do believe that Christians and Jews are like brothers, as our God chose them as His people long before Christ came to earth.
I believe that they are saved by virtue of being chosen by God, whereas we must be saved through belief in Jesus.
But no, Judaism is not just about religion, it is about culture and race as well. Just because Jesus was a Jew does not make His Christian followers jewish! :)
When a Christian becomes a Christian, he becomes on of the chosen people, so in that sense he could be considered Jewish, but not really by our definitions of Judaism vs. Christianity.

Many Protestant groups feel a strong connection to Israel but as a Catholic I do not and this is why;
Christianity is the completion of the Jewish religion. Had all of the Jews of Jesus’ time accepted him as the Messiah and entered the Church, there would have continued to be one true religion. But because Jesus of Nazareth was not accepted as the Messiah by the majority of the Jews of his time, a split occurred. Pre-Christian Judaism was the true religion; post-Christian Judaism is an incomplete religion because it lacks recognition of the Messiah it anticipates.

The test of whether or not a person is Jewish, you have to ask yourself, if Hitler had succeeded in killing off all the Jews, would you be alive today? If you say "Yes", then you are not Jewish. (And thank God that God finally stopped him (hitler), or I might not be here!).
BTW - I am not a "Messianic" Jew, just a born-again, completed Jew.

I never heard that. You must either be seed of Abraham or convert to the Jewish faith to be Jewish. If a Christian considered themself Jewish I wouldn't get it.

No it is not widely held, and it is not at all what the Bible teaches. Jewishness is a nationality and Christianity is a religion. Neither affects the other.

its cute
a gentile cant become a physical Jew as they were not born to a Jewish mom, as I was
Yet, most Jews cant become Jewish because they refuse to believe Moses and the prophets about the the Jewish messiah Yeshua/Jesus as promised "Unto us a child is born, a son is given, and he will be the mighty God, the wonderful counselor, the everlasting father, and the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6
yet Romans 2 the last 2 verses states "One is not a Jew by the circumcision of the flesh but of the heart, whose praise is of God and not of man."
God isnt just a God of one people He is the God of all people, and many of us Jewish and gentiles to know Jesus personally as best friend, Messiah and savior.
to know him personally-seek and you shall find
Moses said without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Leviticus 17:11

Believing what I do, if I wasn't Christian I'd want to be Jewish.
But no, I don't consider myself Jewish.
