How soon do they kick in? It's been over an hour & I feel no relief. Are they in the same family as Morphine? When I broke my leg 2 years ago, 2 IM morphine shots did not work on me.

I'm on it for back issues (3 fractured vertebrae & 2 herniated discs). It's been over 2 hours now & I still feel no relief.

It will kick your but tomorrow!!! I was on these patches and the pain started going away about 5 hours later, but the next day I was driving down the road and all of a sudden, I got really dizzy and drowsy, speech slurring. Be REALLY careful until you have been on these for several rounds of the 3 day changes. Usually the 2nd day is the most potent.

Yes, Fentanyl is a member of the opiate family. You probably will not feel much, if any, effects after only one hour. If you happen to be opiate tolerant, you may need to visit your prescribing doctor and explain that your tolerance is high for opiates. You may need a dose adjustment. But, NEVER take more of this medication than prescribed. Doing so could prove fatal. I suggest that you give this medication a while longer to assess how well it is going to work. Please, do not attempt to self medicate by adjusting the dose without consulting your doctor. I hope this helps you, Sawyer. You take care. I cannot give more information due to not knowing your medical history.

Best to you and I hope all works out fine,

Lisa

I just want you to know that I hope you feel a little better SOON! I have had some serious injuries, all my ribs were broken in 3 places each on my left side.10 years later my left arm was almost severed between my elbow and my wrist.Try hard to listen to your doctor,a friend of mine has been in his grave for a year now because he O.D.ed on his pain meds. You can get through this,I did,so can you, good luck to you,I am not a religious guy,but I will pray for you anyway.

fentanyl takes about four hours to reach a level when applied on a patch, and slowly decline for the next 24 hours. They are used in cases of chronic pain, not for acute pain.
