Ok- I already know that ps3 looks alot better in HD- thats not what i'm asking. I'm asking if the ps3 looks good with a standard-definition tv or is it just not worth it?

The PS3 is worth it without an HD-TV. I use a pretty new CRT T.V. with my PS3 and I get 480i.The PS3's graphics look stunning without the HDTV on my T.V.

I think that it depends if your SDTV is old, or pretty new like mine. I have a old SDTV in my living room and I hooked up my PS3 to it one day just to see how the graphics looked on it and the graphics don't look as good with the old T.V.

As long as your SDTV is a pretty new model and you use the component cables, the graphics will look awesome without a HDTV, but if you want to get the best out of the PS3 then get a HDTV.

I plan on getting an HDTV next year though, and I recommend that you get one sometime in the near future because by 2009, all T.V. networks will have to broadcast in a digital format, and that means that you will need an HDTV or some type of converter box if you still use the CRT/SDTV's.

I had my ps3 before I bought my HDTV. Definitely playable on SD, only downside I noticed was really DARK blacks and viewable area.
Now that I have my HD the picture looks smoking hot.

I have 100Hz 25" standard CRT TV - PS3 looks great on it, but, still, 1080p FullHD is better.
