Fact 1:
Puppies in gestation peroid are passed on the worms from the mother through the blood stream and congenitally exist in their digestive tracts.
Fact 2:
Puppies can be free of worms 100% by deworming them once a month. I would suggest a vet exam since they need to figure out the type of worm that your dog has. That is the main reason most of the time over-the-counter remedies do not work cause they are not targetted at the right type!
Fact 3:
Make sure your puppie is free of fleas. Fleas are carriers. You will need to disinfect you pet's living area the same time you are deworming him.
Fact 4:
Puppies will also get worms by eating feces of other infected worms.
Fact 5:
The best part if, your dog can be free of worms 100% if given the right treatment.
All the best! Have pets. Grew up having many dogs in the house.

Just because a puppy has worms does not neccessarily mean the person you got it from did not deworm it... It sometimes takes several doses to get rid of all the infestation. Your vet can better advise you on the proper amounts and times to administer. Almost all puppies will have one form or another of worms. You need to have a vet determine "which kind" of worms your puppy has so he can give you the proper medication. You just need to take a stool sample to have the vet evaluate it. A lot of people get wormers from the grocery store, pet store, etc., This is just NOT effective, because it will only work if your puppy has those TYPES of worms for that particular medication. Your best bet is the vet, so you can administer the proper Medication needed to kill the type your puppy may have.
Anabell? Is proper spelling here really the issue - or the health of the dog??? I don't think it is your job to play secretary!!!

Take it to the vet and get proper meds for it. Dont use the over the counter stuff, because often they dont work and give the worms time to make the infestation worse, then by the time you do go to the vet, you need drastic treatments.
Just go to the vet, it will be a quick dose of medicine, and if you live in an apt or area where you have to walk your dog where there are lots of other dogs that go there, then ask about Interceptor or another pill that prevents intestinal parasites (its just a little pill you give the dog once a month like the heartworm and flea treatments, fairly cheap too).

Most puppies have worms. If they are not taken care of properly they dog can die.
First you need to take the dog to a vet, with a fecal sample, that way they can see exactly what types of worms it is. They will give the dog either a shot, or powder to put in the food to get rid of the worms, then you can get a monthly heart worm medicine to keep them away (like Sentinal)
If you dont have the money for that they do have deworming products at the pet stores but they arent as safe because the dog isnt monitered properly and you can be as specific w. the treatment.

Have you had the puppy for it's first Vet. appointment with you?
If not call the vet. you plan to use ans set up an appointment. Take a fresh stool sample with you to the appointment.
If your vet has already seem the animal then call the office and see if you can drop the stool sample off for testing.
Once the smple is tested the vet's ofice can give you the med. you will need to give to the puppy.
Do not try to use over the counter worming meds. These vary from unaffective to too strong because they are not tailored to the type of worms that your puppy has. Some breeds of dogs are also more sensitive to various wormers.

Get him in to the vet and get him checked out. Most puppies need wormed at least twice a month if the worms are really bad. If you cant afford the vet then go to a pet store or feed store and buy an over the counter wormer and mix in his food.

all dogs need to be tested and treated for worms on a regular basis. If you are not comfortable buying over the counter worming meds, then take the pup to the vet right away and get him wormed, a vet check and shots. clean up all areas where your pup has gone poo as the worm eggs can stay in the soil for a very long time.

Take a poop sample in to the vet, so he can do a fecal and he can see what kind of worms your dog has, and he can give you the proper treatment for the worms.
