-Nipples are especially sensitive and are a source of sexual stimuli, even for many men.
-Nipples are the result of an efficient plan of embryonic development. Human embryos contain characteristics of both sexes at first, because they all have basically the same genetic information. It is design economy. For example, in all human embryos, at first both the mullerian duct system (female) and the wolffian duct system (male) develop, because both sexes have the genetic information for these structures. Incidentally, this refutes the urban myth that human embryos "start out female."

If you wanted to build your own house, wouldn't you use the same methods other builders use? Would it make sense at all to use all new methods, when the old ones are just fine? It's the same way with God's creation of Adam and Eve.
I've taken 1 entire year of human anatomy/physiology with dissection (I got an A+ for the year) at a highly respected college; I also took a semester of embryology (I think I got a B+). I can tell you unequivocally: the embryo of a male fetus IS different than that of a female, both histologically and anatomically. Anyone who says otherwise is showing their ignorance of basic embryology -- such as you.
EDIT: Allure45, you are an example of a person who types without thinking. Do you even know what the word "histologically" means? I'm guessing you don't.

The same question could be posed for navels.
The point is, no one knows what Adam or Eve looked like.
The scriptures say that Eve was taken from Adam's rib. The critical understanding here is that when Adam went to sleep, he was in the image of God. When he awoke, something had been taken away, and formed into Eve. Essentially, Adam was changed from that day forward.
Since then, neither males nor females are born in God's image.
And as it states in Genesis 5, Seth was born in the image of Adam.
Tons of food for thought !

Origin of the term "man" is from the terminology that indicates a man is a person without womb . The term wo-man means a person with womb . This might indicate that at one time all ( prehistoric) persons had wombs and they eventually evolved into two specialized groups . Ones with enlarged clitorisis/penises ( to make insemination easier ) and ones with enlarged wombs ( and smaller clitorisis) to produce babies with larger heads ( brains) . The inseminators would also evolve as to have larger stronger bodies in order to hunt , and protect . The men retain the nipples as it was not important from an evolutionary standpoint to get rid of them .
Added for Suzanne ,
I suggest you demand your money back from your college . They failed to give you basic reproductive science classes before allowing you to disect embryos ( during part of a 20 class hours total on embryology , and then there is your total 40 class hours on basic human anatomy .You have a looong way to go ! )
There is NO difference between a male embryo other than DNA ( and there is difference between any two embryos DNA ) ,until the introduction of the "male precursor" chemicals ( Androgen package ) . If you block this "package" you will wind up with a female child regardless on the DNA .
But even more alarming is your lack of Logic for a college aged person ."If you wanted to build your own house, wouldn't you use the same methods other builders use? Would it make sense at all to use all new methods, when the old ones are just fine? " If that were the case people would still be living in Mud Huts burning fires to stay warm . We have better safer homes because building methods have evolved . And are continuing to do so . Recently things have evolved as to get rid of abestos and lead based paint , and to use recycled products and double paned windows . Likewise all things on earth evolve . Some slowly , some faster . But even so , what in the worlds does that have to do with the question why do men have nipples ? Did they teach you in that well respected school ? Did they explain why men with nipples is a "just fine" building technique ?
And if the creation of Adam and Eve was so dam fine why do we need all the doctors and undertakers ?
Added for grnlow ,
Since the obvious purpose of nipples is to feed the infant wouldn't your arguement ( religious or not ) make more sense if you said man was created ( or evolved ) from woman , rather than the other way around ? But of couse that would be obvious mistake # 302,487 found in the Bible you depend on . Sorry !

Nipples??? I have never considered nipples very much being male. What it does show is similar genetics which would be expected as the Bible shows genetic material from Adam was used to construct Eve.
Frequently we hear of people dissatisfied with God's design and recommending changes. These changes turn out to have more flaws than the original. Our design works quite well. It marks an Intelligent Designer.

There's plenty of unexplainable things in the bible. I like to think it was meant to be used a guide - not blindly followed like lots of other people do. You read the bible, decide your own meaning for the stories, and learn the right things to do. The 10 commandments are even getting a bit outdated with what's right and wrong now days, yet most of them are good as a general guide.
So yeah, think of the creation story as a lesson - its main moral is up to you to decide; could be not to give into temptation, or listen to what God tells you to do, or whatever.
And by the way since I'm here I would like to ask any other Christians who read this to damn well respect other religions as well as people without a religion - its their right to believe what they want.

My understanding is that the Bible god was going to make a woman and then decided at the last minute to make a man, then later he thought "Why not have both", and so he made the woman.
In those early stages, the Bible god was rather confused.
But why are you asking church folks anyway? They don't like such questions.

Another vote for the hermaphrodite theory. Assuming Abrahamic Intelligent design that is.
Adam was created in god's image. God was a hermaphrodite. Adam was a hermaphrodite until he had his "rib" removed.

So you think the male chest would look better as just skin without nipples? Apparently you've never had a woman caress your nipples, for if you had, you wouldn't ask such a dumb question.
The way God decided to design the human body, is perfect.

Sex is allowed in Paradise.
God created Adam and Eve with sexual organs and made them both of different sexes for the reason of companionship which involves sex.
This was done by God long before the fall and eating of the forbidden fruit.
Christians tried to deny sex on earth and still deny it in Paradise.
