Ok so I love oatmeal, (Not instant) I have it every morning with fresh fruit.. I was wondering if adding a teaspoon or tbsp of vanilla extract would be good..for a change of flavor? and if so would I add it when cooking it or after? Also is it true that adding milk to your oatmeal makes it lose nutrients..I saw that somewhere

don't see why you can't add vanilla extract...i would add it before you cook it...a little at a time
not sure about the adding milk thing...i make my oatmeal completly with milk...instead of water...it tastes like cardboard to me if i don't make it with milk....

If the vanilla extract works out...another suggestion you could do is....add a drop of LorAnn Oil to your oatmeal...they are these little bottles of flavoring usually used for candy (i use them in my frostings) and they have at least 50 diff flavors that are all to die for...just the smell of them makes ya hungry and all you usually need is a drop or 2...

definitely with the vanilla extract. there is a diner up my way that puts a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the pot of oatmeal while it is cooking.

personally, i add a little butter and maple syrup in with my oatmeal while it is cooking so that the grain flakes absorb the flavors.

Sure and as far as I know cooking your oats in milk actually adds nutrients. You can also add pure maple syrup, honey and even cocoa powder to make a tasty treat. Enjoy!

it is not significant for any of the chemical methods that take place in the dough or in baking, it is purely the flavour. I wager you will no longer observe the adaptation, whether it relies upon on your cookie. in case you have nuts, raisins, spices, et cetera, it's going to conceal the shortcoming of vanilla. If it is greater trouble-free, you will need something. i'd recommend a splash applesauce or cinnamon, that is going properly with oatmeal.
