No, you only need a passport when you're leaving the country. And yeah just bring your I.D.s and things.

Since the Articles of Annexation back in the 1850's I believe, Texas is part of the United States. So, unless you are a foreign national living in Maryland, a passport would not be necessary but keep in mind that Texas is right next to Mexico, so if you intend on going south of the international border between the USA and Mexico then it wouldn't hurt to pack the passport.

I'm sure everyone has had a good laugh at your question, but you don't say what your citizenship is, or your status in the US if you're not US citizens.
If you are non-citizens, your passports may have the evidence of your permitted stay in the US. There are border patrols well inside the US border of Texas so it doesn't hurt to have proof of your immigration status.
As a USC, I also take my passport with me everywhere.. you never know when a great opportunity will come up to cross a border or hop a cheap flight to somewhere more tempting!
Happy travels.

Both Maryland and Texas are part of the USA, which means they are both States within this country. Which means you do not need a passport to travel within the States.
You should always have some form of ID, which you have in the form of your driving license.

Passports are for traveling out of the country. As much as Texas likes to think its a country, it isn't. No you just need a DL.

Passports are only needed if you are going to leave the country. Traveling to a different state does not require a passport, even if you fly.
Bring your state issued ID or Drivers license

No passport needed if travelling within the your home country but it always is a good idea to get one. Security checks go faster with a passport.

I'm terribly sorry, but last time I checked no one needed a passport to travel within the USA. And last time I checked Texas was one of our 50 states.

Anyone entering Texas from the North East is required to have a passport, vaccinations and proof you are leaving at some point. They don't like us down there.

ID's are not a requirement in Texas unless you are not a legal resident of the United States. You are, however, required to give truthful statements of your identity if ask by legal authorities. Come ahead on and enjoy your visit. :)
P.S. ID's make identification anywhere easier.
