I believe it is known as "insemination"
I could be wrong, but it's more likely that you are.

The semen is collected from the donor bull by use of a machine called an "electro ejaculator". This semen is usually frozen and shipped in "straws". The owner of the cow can purchase semen from many types of bulls. The better the bull; the more pricey the semen. When the cow comes in heat, the farmer, or a artificial inseminator, inserts the semen into the cow by running his arm as far as possible into her vagina. For reasons unknown, putting the newly inseminated cow in the pen next to an actual bull will cause her to accept the semen more readily, and settle (aka become pregnant).

First of all you must go to the Wikpedia Encyclopedia and enter: Artifical Insemination. If thats not clear enough, Google Artifical Insemination Holstein Cows, Cornell University.
If you are not satisfied with their answers and want a clear explanation e-mail me. I lived on a Holstein dairy farm for 23 yrs. During that time we hired an artifical inseminator who did all the breeding of our Holstein dary cattle.

It's insimination. They get the sperm from the male, put it in a syringe and put that into the cows uterus...thense a calf will be born if a swimmer finds an egg.
