The fundmentalists responding here don't even seem to be able to comprehend the question. I think what the asker want to know is - What gives you the right to keep other peoples children ignorant about well-known scientific truths, as well as family planning, by manipulating school boards and other government agencies.
If you Christians really want your sons to be conditioned to reject knowledge and spend their lives in ignorance, if you want your daughters to be pregnant and diseased, but blissfully uninformed about sexual hygeine, then go ahead. Just don;t try to force these fates on our children.

In a sense, you're right. There are a lot of people out there who try to force their beliefs upon someone else, like saying, "you don't believe what I believe so, I'm not going to associate with you." This is very wrong. However, many times people think other people are forcing their beliefs upon them, when really they are just standing up for what they believe in, and what they believe is right. This is also wrong.
There is a huge difference between "forcing beliefs" and "standing up" for beliefs. The question is if one can decipher that difference.

I am a Christian and I think you have a very valid point. The Bible says to spread the Gospel. It no where says force it upon someone. Once someone has heard about Jesus..and rejects the idea. We are told to "kick the dust from our feet" and move on. Luckily we live in countries where you don't force your beliefs into government, schools, or laws..That is done by voting. Make sure you are exercising all your rights and duties as a citizen.

The word "Force" is not used in the Bible. It does say though that we are to spread the word...His word. Once you hear it...it's pretty much up to you whether you choose Heaven.............or Hell.
God has been taken out of the schools...so what belief are you speaking of that's being forced there. That ten year olds be put on birth control without the concent or knowledge of the parents?
And I do believe that women are in control of their bodies...that's until they become pregnant. Then....well then that one body is housing two spirits....and becomes "our" body until the birth. Whatever is done with or to that body now affects two lives. Babies don't ask to be concieved, and there are many ways NOT to become pregnant. Why should an innocent pay with their life for the studitity of an adult woman?
And our government? If you know any history at all...America was founded on religious beliefs. That's why we came here.....to pray and worship whenever and wherever we want, without ridicule.
On another note: Why do those that don't believe "FORCE" us into not following our beliefs in the government....in the schools....women's bodies.....are you not "FORCING" your non-belief on us?

Yeah, thanks a lot. A bunch of wack jobs masquerading as good Christians do this crap, and all of us get a bad rap. Do you think the people saying the gays or the Muslims are going to hell are actually going to go to Heaven? Have you ever heard the story about this one woman who was getting stoned? Well, she committed adultery, and she was sentenced to be stoned to death. Jesus stepped in, and told them to only throw stones if their slate was clean. None of them could do that, because they had all sinned at one point. Another beautiful thing is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". You aren't supposed to be FORCING your views anywhere, because all you should expect is their views forced unto you. So please, take some time to realize that maybe the millions of Christians out there are not like the small percentage who use their religion as a shield.

LOL Scuba..... Each INDIVIDUAL has to make their OWN "personal" decision as to what to believe and why.
Just as EACH individual has to make their own decision of what part of Yahoo Answers they will choose to read, ask, and answer questions.
A person whom does not wish to have people voice their opinions about their Beliefs should NOT choose to "click" their mouse on questions that do so....they will then not be OUTRAGED at anyone's viewpoint being construed at trying to FORCE their belief on someone whom does not wish to have it done.
LOL..... please people....may I suggest that "Common sense" be allowed to help you choose the above for you?
Thank you. :)
*** If a person chooses to wear clothing or symbols that declare to the world of their choice of belief that is different from others, why are they offended if they are NOTICED for doing so? Are they not making it a public announcement? Especially if they live in a "Bible Belt" where the religion of majority would presumedly be that of "Christianity"?
If a person is strong in their belief, they should be prepared for such a thing happening and not complain when it does. I would not walk down the street within a non-Christian area if I were not prepared for a confrontation and able to stand on my own two feet afterwards. :)

Our country is founded on religion....
I don't believe anyone should force these opinions on you. However they are just that-opinions. Some people are hypersensitive to any religious "talk". Maybe that's where you are at........
It does say in the Bible to go and spread the word of God, but it sounds like you have had a bad experience.
It sounds like someone has you all tied up held at gunpoint trying to convert you.....
Chrisianity is not the only religion being spread (FORCED)around here, in case you didn't notice...

scuba dude,
love the waters of the tropics, been planning a trip to Truk but keep getting deployed so i have not been yet.
now on to your question, some are written out showing a decent intellect, economy of words and brilliance.
however, some like to force things on others in ignorance so you don't need chapter and verse, just whatever it is that sends folks to do these thing.
On the issue of christians and so forth, I think if you are patient they will all be going away soon enough and you can have the world you think you want.
till then, be patient

it doesn't say 'force" but it does say for believers to tell others about Jesus and what He taught
( NIV translation) Mattew 28:18-20 _ Jesus said: "All Authority in heaven and on the earth has been given Me
"Therefore go and make disciples of All nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to Obey everthing I have commanded you..."
also Mark 16 :15 & 16 ( Jesus) "Said to them Go Into all the world and preach the good news to all creatation. Who ever believes and is baptized will be saved, but who ever does not believe will be condemned"

It only says to present (preach) the Gospel. No one can force their belief on anyone else. Unless you want to consider what the Catholics did to the indians. It has to be free choice. If that makes you uncomfortable, then try this on for size.
Your question illustrates just what is taking place presently by those attempting to have their belief enforced by law. By a minority of the population (14%). To have 84% of the population bow to their beliefs. Rather strange you would bring up. the question. How do you respond to the answer?

It dosen't say "force".
Christians have the free gift of eternal life. Sometimes in our desire that everyone share in this free gift, we lose sight of what God tells us to do.
We are instructed to share this good news to the ends of the earth.
I think you are using the word "force" to realy mean that you want Christians to stay out of government, public schools, women's bodies ect.
I don't believe God intends for us to stand by passively, but "force" is not wath is intended either. The word of God needs to be spread, but it is up to teh free will of every person to accept or reject the word. God will judge you on this, not what you have done, because we have all sinned.
Heaven will be populated 100% with sinners, just like hell will be.
