If the media doesn't have a scandal to report on, they make something up. We have a multi-billion dollar hysterical industry that has to have scandals to scream and comment on, and the comediennes also must make jokes, and that requires something to raise the blood pressure, otherwise they would all be out of work.

You're partially right. In the 1970s the media made a big deal out of the possibility that we were heading toward a new ice age, when in reality few scientists made any claims along those lines.

Basically the media was wrong and scientists were right. The best way to get information about a scientific issue like global warming is directly from scientists, instead of getting the information filtered through the media first.
The scientific consensus is now that humans are the primary cause of the current warming, and we need to get it under control before we cause a catastrophic climate change. This is most apparent by reading the IPCC report (summary linked below).
http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/Report/AR4WG1_Print_SPM.pdf
At no time in the past was there a scientific consensus about climate change because at no time in the past was the scientific evidence so conclusive about the issue. Now it is, and we need to listen to the climate scientists before it's too late.

The Earth has had ice ages, they were cooling periods, between them were warming periods. This has been going on for all of Earth’s 4 + - billion years. This all happened before any of the modern day technology came into being and will continue after we are gone.
The Earth is going through a pole shift right now. A pole shift is when the magnetic poles swap polarities. During pole shifts the magnetosphere is weaker and more of the Sun’s rays strike the Earth, this causes extra heating of the Earths surface, and makes global warming more pronounced.
These are natural cycles of the Earth. We puny stupid humans can no more stop or even reduce a natural cycle of the Earth, than the man in the moon. This is 9th grade science, and one would think that scientists and politicians would be better educated, but it seems that this not so, and they could remember 9th grade science class too.
This may just may be another smoke and mirrors propaganda campaign to cover our governments lies and con games. There are so many conspiracies running rampant it’s hard to tell which are real and which are just simple stupidity. The idea we can stop global warming IS stupidity at it’s highest form.
"The sublime and the ridiculous are often so nearly related, that it is difficult to class them separately. One step above the sublime makes the ridiculous, and one step above the ridiculous makes the sublime again"
Thomas Paine

It seems that everyone that is going frantic over this latest global warming thing is so uneducated. They only look at their lifetime and in the recent past. Like, 30 years ago we had the global cooling crisis and everyone thought, oh no, ice age. Things of a global nature need to be viewed with global glasses on. This earth has been around for billions of years and has cooled and warmed at its own pace, without the influence of man. What makes people so cocky to think that by cutting back on their light bulbs they are going to save the world. And people call me delusional.

All you global warming fanatics sound a lot like chicken little. The FACTS are that co2 is about .004 % of the atmosphere. Virtually ZERO. Its not the most significant green house gas at all. The most significant one is water vapor. Water vapor is pretty hard to regulate. (so i co2 by the way.) They've picked co2 because they can use it to manipulate you. Quit listening to that liberal crap. Al Gore is a delusional idiot. Liberalism is a mental disorder. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. BAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I think you need to check your facts.
There is no doubt in the scientific community about global warmng.
It's the religious nutcases that usually oppose any sensible science that says otherwise, but this time there is some question about the oil industry, and how they oppose the science that is driving these theories.
I think that maybe you should look to put the blame on the business people instead of the scientists.

It has been very profitable for Al Gore!!!!
If he really believed what he was preaching, he should be trying to reduce his own "carbon footprint".
But instead
- tells us to ride a bike to work, nice thought but I have children that need to get to daycare/school etc.
(and as he's flying around in a private jet, holding concerts that are sucking up electricity, and of course all the entertainers have to fly as well ,and adding tons of garbage to the planet.)
just another example of liberal hypocrisy

You bring up a good argument for the reporting of climate change. However, the actual science has only recently been shown to have enough supporting evidence to accurately predict climate change. And the science has only recently come to the scientific conclusion that humans are contributing to climate change. Don't let the errors of the media skew your acceptance of science.
