no one invented it. The ancient egyptians however did invent bateries which could generate 1.1 Volts and give a considerable shock to anyone who got in the way of the current. they used them to electrically gold plate many of the objects they used. They however did not have a highly developed concept of electricity that we do today. Franklin was the first to propose that concept, then maxwell and Faraday did a lot of work to understand the nature of electromagnetic forces. Edison invented DC current generators and light bulbs. Tesla invented AC current generators and motors which we use today.

People will say that Benjamin Franklin invented it.
but that's false:
nobody INVENTED electricity, it has been here since the world began. Lightning is electricity, static is electricity. Ben Franklin, though, did discover electricity.
