Couldn't he see it just as well from his cloud chair? And what does it mean for him to "come down," as he is not a physical being and is everywhere all at once?

To see with is own eyes? God has EYES? Again, you are describing a God that is NOT all-knowing and all-seeing.

BUff - two points; one, I am thinking God gets your full attention wherever he speaks from, and, second, the subsequent verses show you that they were confused and had no idea what had happened to them.

Buff - you miss the point - the scripture says that the reason he came down was to see for himself. It doesn't say he came down so that he could give his message more effectvely.
