Hi, I have been getting really depressed form being made fun of at school, and having not many close friends it gets really fusterating to hold it all. Its been bringing on suicidal thoughts, even though I don't want to do it, my mind is making its way toward it. But I am not sad all the time, in one class i laugh, but once thats over I'm angry/sad again. My life just seems so boring now, I do the same old things, and I'm just tired of it. I've been loosing interest in my grades and other things, and once its time for my grades to come, I'm going to get yelled at, but I can't tell my parents why. I don't want to see a therapist, i just want some medications to stop the suicidal thoughts and sadness. But I don't want to tell my mom that I've been having thoughts like that because I'm afraid she'll be mad at me and tell me I'm crazy and then I wont get any help. Is this depression? Or is this just a come and go sadness type of thing? Please help, and thanks for listening.

Would your mom really be mad at you? I remember thinking bad thoughts like you are when I was your age, and being convinced if I told my mom she wouldn't help. I know now she would have held my hand through anything and maybe be a little mad, but never abandon me. I have daughters now, and if one of them felt like you, I pray to God they will come to me. Isn't there anyone you have to talk to? A doctor wont just give you medication, the Dr will want you to seek therapy but wont be able to force you.Anti depressants have been shown to increase thoughts of suicide in teens, so a pill isn't your answer. I really know how you feel, my heart goes out to you. Its 20yrs later for me now, I'm married, have 3 great kids, and I am so grateful I resisted what seemed like the only way to stop the pain. I am happy, so hold on. Dream a little dream of the future. The advantage is that its so far away, you can make your plans and mold it into whatever vision your heart desires. Please if possible, talk to your mom, she loves you.

about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.

She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.

After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.

Everybody has more "down" times in their life. It can be called depression but the kind of depression people usually have to be treated for will affect their lives so much they won't leave the room. These people will lose friends, family, jobs, and everything they have because it is so hard to get up during the day.

This isn't to say that what you are experiencing isn't serious, but it sounds more like you do need someone to talk to. If you're unhappy then medicating it isn't necessarily the right answer. You have to get to the root of the problem and fix the cause, instead of putting a band-aid on it like Zanax or Prozac. I was on those meds and they're no fun, they become addictive. If you truly think you're suicidal please seek the help you need.

I think that it doesn't matter what you call it - depression or a come and go sadness kind of thing. You are hurting and you need help.

Why don't you want to talk to your mom? I'm a mom, and if one of my kids felt like this I would certainly want to know about it. I would want to help them, and I would feel terrible if I didn't.

You may or may not need medication, that's for a doctor to decide. All you may need is someone to talk to. Is there anyone else you feel comfortable with - an aunt or uncle, a neighbor, a friend's parent . . . some adult who can help you find some kind of perspective.

But - most of all - if you continue to have these suicidal thoughts then PLEASE seek help. There are suicide hotlines and even internet sites for people who are feeling that way.

Don't decide on a permanent solution for a temporary problem . . . that's what suicide is.

I wish you well! Please take care of yourself.

Check out the website I pasted below. It's got a quick depression test for you go check your current status. I'd also recommend journaling and even counseling. Does your school have peer counseling available? Most schools do and the students chosen are trained for situations such as yours. It may help to talk through your sadness with a peer.

I think this is depression. It creeps in slowly and it starts in your mind and then you began to see it on the outside. Since you dont want anyone to know that you are having these thoughts I think you should look within yourself and see what is making your depressed. No one likes to be picked on but you have to reverse the curse so to speak. Try to laugh it off because most times people know who to pick on because others would snap back. So snap back build your confidence, try not to let anyone see that you are hurting. Find someone whom you can confide in and who is understanding.

Medication is only one tool in treating depression.
You need to see a medical professional and be honest with them about how you feel.
Many of the medications have serious side effects, especially in youth and young adults.
Talk to someone that can evaluate your case and help you establish a treatment plan.

hey, ive been through almost exactly what youre feeling- just being really tired, not caring about anything, and not feeling you can do anything about it... i was forced to talk to a psychiatrist b/c my mom found scars :( --not that i recommend cutting, but it got me through those rough times when i couldnt handle trying to kill myself-- but i mean the only way to get medication is through a doctor & (unless you can drive) the only way is to go through your parents

im guessing its depression, although i was never diagnosed & you sound really similar, but dont worry about it-- its not your fault, and dont let anyone tell you to just stop being so sad- it wont work, and if anything, it makes me feel worse

hopefully this helped- i wouldnt wish that misery on anyone in the world, if you want to talkl more about it email me skibc90@yahoo.com

it does sound like depression but the best thing is to confront your feeling with someone who can help you! your family will understand. they'll ask why and they'll want to know why you feel that way. open your self up. you'll feel better, don't let it comsume you because those thoughts will never go away if you don't want them too. believe in your self!!
