To fly you must be an officer. To be an officer, you must have a four year degree from an accredited institution. (be careful of mail order).
NOT every officer gets to be a pilot. They are very selective because they CAN BE. Thousands of applicants for dozens of slots.
All that said, I had a friend, join the Air Force...did so well in basic training they sent him to the Air Force Academy for four years....he could have had a pilot slot, but didn't want one. DO NOT consider this a reasonable path to get your pilot slot. Path A, apply to all the service academies; next path is military ROTC programs at most colleges across the country; last path is go private education all the way and apply for a pilot slot once you graduate. Go see a recruiter.

your best chance as a fighter pilot will come from the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs.... You need to have great SAT scores and great grades and letter of recommendation to just apply. You do have other options, you can try the ROTC. The thing is no matter how you look at, you need to be an officer to fly fighters, you need to have a bachelors degree to be an officer and well if you aren't going to the academy then I would consider getting a degree in aeronautical engineering, avionics, or something very similar. Talk to recruiter, you maybe able to train while attending school, but remember this, you won't fly fighters without the education. Not to mention all the ridiculous physical requirements. I hate to tell you this, but if you where contacts or glasses, give up your dream now, the military only pays for corrective surgery for your eyes, if your a god.

The best way would be to go to the AF academy. A close second would be a regular college. Then you have to complete flight school and all other training. rickbrok.. The AF has more fighter that the Navy and the Marines put together. The AF also has the most advanced fighters in the world.

You have to go to some type of college to fly an airplane, if you really want to fly you should go to the Air Force Academy in Colorado. For this though you will need Congressional recommendation

You may join the Air Force after high school, however you will never fly any aircraft unless you are a collage graduate.

Not really an answer to the question, but your uncorrected vision can now be only 20/70 correctable to 20/20. Used to be 20/20 uncorrected

Think about some college, about four years worth, before you will be allowed to get near an Air force plane other than an airshow.

No, you have to go to college first. It helps to have a science subject or a flight school, like Emery Riddle, but it doesn't really matter. My brother flew with guys who had drama degrees! Helps for the announcements. If you show aptitude on their test they'll accept you!
