Most humans have a need to personify their Creator. It's hard for them to feel the same love for Mother Nature. Gods have human personalities and it's easier for people to relate.

Do you only acknowledge the existence of things you need? I'm not religious because I need it. I'm religious because I believe in entities that deserve my respect, and I believe a relationship with such entities can help me develop into a more knowledgeable and well-rounded person.

So churches can make money. If the idea of God wasn't stuck in peoples heads, churches would have to resort to gambling and strippers. Which is actually a pretty good idea.

The idiots need a father figure to remind them that killing and stealing and doing bad things to people is wrong. Without that threat, some of them wouldn't know what to do with themselves.

I'm C+P'ing this from a blog I read a while back. The author is a Christian :
"mankind NEEDS a higher power to cope with life. and they cannot find one then they will make one up."
So, what he is essentially saying is that ALL gods are made up. These people prove atheist's points FOR us.

Some do because that's what helps them learn wisdom, altruism, compassion, etc., no matter how others choose to interpret "god" and so forth. Virtuous deeds are virtuous deeds, and non-virtuous deeds are non-virtuous, no matter what philosophy or religion one finds to their liking.
Nice smile btw.
